耶和华的怒气向以色列人发作，就把他们交在抢掠的人手中，他们就抢掠他们；他又把他们完全交在他们四围的仇敌手中，以致他们在仇敌面前再不能站立得住。

耶和华是嫉恶和施行报复的神；耶和华施行报复，并且满怀烈怒；耶和华向他的对头施行报复，向他的仇敌怀怒。

在他盛怒之下，谁能站得住呢？他的烈怒谁能受得了呢？他的忿怒像火一般喷出来，磐石在他面前都崩裂了。

你把你的子民廉价出售；他们的售价并没有使你得到利益。

他们却忘记了耶和华他们的神，神就把他们交在夏琐的将军西西拉的手中，以及非利士人和摩押王的手中，于是这些人常常攻打他们。他们就哀求耶和华，说：‘我们犯了罪，因为我们背弃了耶和华，又去服事巴力和亚斯他录。现在求你救我们脱离仇敌的手，我们就必事奉你。’

耶和华这样说：“我离弃了你们的母亲，休书在哪里呢？或者我的债主中，哪一个是我把你们卖了给他的呢？看哪！你们被卖是因你们的罪孽；你们的母亲被离弃是因你们的过犯。

耶和华对摩西说：“看哪，你快要和你的列祖长眠了；这人民要起来，在他们所要去的地方，在那地的人中，与外族人的神行邪淫，离弃我，破坏我与他们所立的约。到了那日，我必向他们大发烈怒，离弃他们，掩面不顾他们，他们就必被吞灭，并且遭遇很多灾祸和患难。到了那日，他们必说：‘我们遭遇这些灾祸，不是因为我们的神不在我们中间吗？’到了那日，因为他们偏向了别的神，和所作的一切恶事，我必掩面不顾他们。

他们以外族人的神激动了神的愤恨，以可憎之事惹起了他的怒气。他们献祭给鬼魔（他们不是神），就是他们从来不认识的神，是近来新兴的，是你们的列祖所不惧怕的。你轻忽了生你的磐石，你忘记了产你的神。因为他的儿女激怒了神，耶和华看见了，就弃绝了他们，说：‘我必掩面不顾他们，要看看他们的结局怎样；因为他们是乖曲的一代，心里没有信实的人。他们以不是神的神激动了我的愤恨，以虚无之物惹动了我的怒气；我也以不是子民的人激动他们的愤恨，以愚昧的国民惹动他们的怒气。因为在我的怒中有火燃烧起来，烧到阴间的深处，把大地和地的出产尽都吞灭，连山的根基也烧着了。

耶和华必不肯饶恕他；耶和华的怒气和愤恨必向这人发作，这书上所写的一切咒诅都要降在那人身上，耶和华也必从天下涂抹他的名。耶和华必照着写在这律法书上的约的一切咒诅，把他从以色列众支派中分别出来，使他遭受灾祸。“后代的人，就是你们以后兴起来的子孙，和从远方来的外族人，看见了这地的灾难和耶和华降与这地的疾病，又看见了遍地有硫磺，有盐卤，有火烧，没有播种，没有出产，寸草不生，好像耶和华在烈怒和怒火中毁灭的所多玛、蛾摩拉、押玛、洗扁一样，看见了这些的人和万国的人都要问：‘耶和华为什么向这地这样行呢？为什么大发烈怒呢？’人就必回答：‘是因为他们离弃了耶和华他们列祖的神的约，就是耶和华把他们从埃及地领出来的时候，与他们所立的；去事奉别的神，向他们叩拜，就是他们不认识的神，也是耶和华没有给他们指定要拜的神；所以耶和华向这地大发烈怒，把这书上所写的一切咒诅都降在这地上；于是耶和华在烈怒、忿怒和大怒中，把他们从他们的地土拔出来，丢在别的地方，像今天一样。’

神啊！你为什么永远丢弃我们呢？为什么你的怒气向你草场上的羊群好像烟冒出呢？（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）

因此耶和华把他们交在迦南王耶宾手中，耶宾那时在夏琐作王；他的军长西西拉，住在夏罗设歌印。

耶和华你们的神应许你们的一切福气怎样临到你们身上，耶和华也必照样使各样的灾祸临到你们身上，直到把你们从耶和华你们的神赐给你们的这美地上消灭为止。如果你们违背了耶和华你们的神吩咐你们遵守的约，去事奉别的神，敬拜他们，耶和华必向你们大发烈怒，使你们从他赐给你们的美地上迅速灭亡。”
