“ Who did this?” the Philistines demanded.“ Samson,” was the reply,“ because his father in law from Timnah gave Samson’s wife to be married to his best man.” So the Philistines went and got the woman and her father and burned them to death.

The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said,“ Entice Samson to tell you what makes him so strong and how he can be overpowered and tied up securely. Then each of us will give you 1,100 pieces of silver.”

She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.

For a prostitute will bring you to poverty, but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life.

They may say,“ Come and join us. Let’s hide and kill someone! Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!

Don’t trust anyone— not your best friend or even your wife!

Then the people of Ephraim mobilized an army and crossed over the Jordan River to Zaphon. They sent this message to Jephthah:“ Why didn’t you call for us to help you fight against the Ammonites? We are going to burn down your house with you in it!”

For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil.
