The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

当他在琐拉和以实陶之间的玛哈尼·但的时候，耶和华的灵开始感动他。

扫罗听后，上帝的灵降在他身上，他勃然大怒，

然后喊道：“我要跟非利士人同归于尽！”于是，他一用力，庙宇倒塌，压住里面的首领和民众。参孙死时杀的人比他活着时杀的还多。

他对我说：“这是耶和华对所罗巴伯讲的话。万军之耶和华说，‘不靠权势，不靠才能，乃靠我的灵。

他看到一块还没有干的驴腮骨，就捡起来用它杀了一千个非利士人。

大卫说：“我一直替父亲放羊，有时候狮子或熊会从羊群中叼走羊，我会去追打它，把羊从它口中救出来。如果它起来攻击我，我就揪着它的胡子把它打死。我曾打死过狮子和熊。这未受割礼的非利士人竟敢向永活上帝的军队骂阵，他的下场也必像狮子和熊一样。耶和华曾经从狮子和熊的利爪下拯救我，祂也必从非利士人手中拯救我。”扫罗对大卫说：“去吧，愿耶和华与你同在。”

那时，耶和华的灵降在耶弗他身上，他便经过基列和玛拿西，来到基列的米斯巴，然后从那里去迎战亚扪人。

祂不喧嚷，不呼喊，不在街上高声说话。

我心柔和谦卑，你们要负我的轭，向我学习，这样你们的心灵必得享安息。

参孙大肆击杀他们，杀死了很多人。事后，他下到以坦，住在那里的岩洞里。

今天，耶和华必把你交在我手中，我必杀死你，砍掉你的头，用非利士军兵的尸体喂天上的飞禽和地上的走兽，使普天下都知道以色列有上帝。
