When he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said,“ I solemnly consecrate my silver to the Lord for my son to make an image overlaid with silver. I will give it back to you.”

He gave the 28 pounds of silver back to his mother. She said to him,“ I’m making a promise to set apart my silver to the Lord. My son, I want you to use it to cover a statue of a god made out of wood or stone. That’s why I’ll give the silver back to you.”

And he restored the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother. And his mother said,“ I dedicate the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a carved image and a metal image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.”

He returned the money to her, and she said,“ I now dedicate these silver coins to the Lord. In honor of my son, I will have an image carved and an idol cast.”

He returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said,“ I personally consecrate the silver to the LORD for my son’s benefit to make a carved image and a silver idol. I will give it back to you.”

He then returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said,“ I wholly consecrate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son to make a carved image and a cast metal image; so now I will return them to you.”

So when he had returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said,“ I had wholly dedicated the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son, to make a carved image and a molded image; now therefore, I will return it to you.”

And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I verily dedicate the silver unto Jehovah from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

He returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said,“ I personally consecrate the silver to the Lord for my son’s benefit to make a carved image overlaid with silver.”

And when he had restored the eleven hundred[ shekels] of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

When he gave back to his mother the eleven hundred pieces of silver, his mother said,“ I solemnly dedicate this silver to the LORD. It will be for my son’s benefit. We will use it to make a carved image and a metal image.”

He restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, then his mother said,“ I most certainly dedicate the silver to Yahweh from my hand for my son, to make a carved image and a molten image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.”

你们把神比作谁呢？你们把神与什么形像并列呢？是偶像吗？偶像不过是匠人所铸造的——工匠为它镀上金层，为它加工银链。那穷得供奉不起的人，就挑选不会朽坏的木头，为自己寻找巧匠，立起不会摇动的偶像。难道你们不知道吗？难道你们没有听过吗？难道从起初没有向你们宣告这事吗？难道从奠定大地根基以来你们没有领悟吗？神坐在大地的圆穹之上，地上的居民好像蚱蜢。他展开诸天如幔子，铺张穹苍如居住的帐篷。他使掌权者归于无有，使地上的审判官形同虚设。他们刚被栽下，刚被种下，根茎刚在地里扎下，神向他们一吹气，他们就枯干了，狂风把他们像麦秸一样吹走。至圣者说：“你们把我比作谁，我就与谁等同了吗？”

至于那些宰杀公牛也击杀人的，祭献羔羊也打断狗脖子的，献上供物也献上猪血的，烧乳香作记念祭也颂赞偶像的——他们都选择自己的道路，他们的心喜悦自己那些可憎之事；

塑造偶像的全都虚空，他们所喜爱的毫无益处；为偶像本身作见证的，一无所见，一无所知，他们都必蒙羞。谁塑造了神像、铸造了毫无益处的偶像呢？看哪！与他同伙的也必蒙羞，因为工匠自己也不过是人。让他们聚集、站立吧！他们都必惧怕、蒙羞！铁匠用工具在炭火上工作，用锤子打造偶像，用有力的膀臂工作；他也会因饥饿而无力，因不喝水而疲乏。木匠拉准绳，用笔画出偶像的样子，用刨子刨成形状，用圆规画出轮廓，把偶像做成人的样式，像人那样的美丽，好住在庙里。他为自己砍伐香柏树；他选取柏树或橡树，让它在树林中茁壮成长；他又栽种松树，让它靠雨水长大；这些树可以给人作燃料。他拿一些来生火取暖，还用来烧火烤饼；他也用这些树制作神像来下拜，制造雕像来膜拜。他用一半的木头烧火，在其上做肉吃；他烤肉、吃饱，又自己取暖，说：“啊哈，我暖和了！我感到火热了。”他用剩下的一半做了一个神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，然后向它俯伏下拜，又向它祷告，说：“求你救我，因为你是我的神。”这样的人不明白，也不领悟，因为耶和华蒙蔽他们的眼使他们不能看见，蒙蔽他们的心使他们不能明悟。他们不反思，也没有知识和聪慧来说：“我用一半的木头烧火，又在火炭上烘饼，烤肉吃。我怎么能用剩下的木头制造可憎之物呢？我怎么能向一块木头膜拜呢？”他们追求的只是灰烬；他们的心受了迷惑，使他们偏离正道；他们不能救自己，也不会说：“我右手中的，难道不是虚谎之物吗？”

列国的偶像是银的、金的，是人手所做的：它们有嘴却不能说，有眼却不能看；有耳却不能听，有鼻却不能闻；有手却不能摸，有脚却不能走，也不能用喉咙发出声音。那些造它们的、所有依靠它们的，都会像它们那样。

他们将要把你们赶出会堂。不但如此，时候就要到了！那杀你们的人，都会以为自己是在事奉神。
