and you shall not make a covenant with the people of this land, but you shall break down their altars.’ Yet you have disobeyed me. Why have you done this?

So you must not make a covenant with the people of this land. Instead, you must tear down their altars.’ But you have disobeyed me. Why did you do it?

and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done?

For your part, you were not to make any covenants with the people living in this land; instead, you were to destroy their altars. But you disobeyed my command. Why did you do this?

因為時候到了，審判要從神的家開始。如果先從我們開始，那麼，那些不肯信從神福音的人會有什麼樣的結局呢？

他們沒有照著耶和華所吩咐的，除滅那裡的族群；反而與列國混合，學習他們的行為，服事他們的偶像。這就成為自己的陷阱。他們把自己的兒子和女兒祭獻給鬼魔；他們流無辜人的血，就是自己兒子和女兒的血，把他們祭獻給迦南的偶像，那地就被血玷汙了。那時他們因自己所做的被玷汙，在自己的行為上犯了姦淫。於是耶和華的怒氣向他的子民發作；他厭惡自己的繼業，

耶和華說：「誰告訴你，你是赤身的呢？難道你吃了我吩咐你『不可吃』的那棵樹的果實嗎？」那人說：「你賜給我那與我在一起的女人——她把那棵樹上的果實給了我，我就吃了。」

耶和華說：「你做了什麼呢？你弟弟的血從地裡發聲向我呼叫。

他從他們面前驅逐列國，用量繩為他們分繼業，使以色列眾支派在他們的帳篷中安居。但他們仍然試探、悖逆至高神，不持守他的法度。他們退縮、背信，如同他們的祖先；他們扭曲，如同鬆弛的弓。他們的高所惹他惱怒，他們雕刻的偶像激起他的嫉妒之心。

你們不可與不信的人同負一軛。公義和罪惡到底有什麼相通呢？光明與黑暗有什麼相合呢？基督與彼列有什麼相融呢？信的與不信的有什麼關係呢？神的聖所與偶像有什麼相同呢？要知道，我們是永生神的聖所，正如神所說：「我將要在他們中間居住，在他們中間往來；我將要做他們的神，他們將要做我的子民。」「所以主說：你們要從他們中間出來，要被分別出來；不要碰不潔淨的東西，我就接納你們」，

神要在烈火中報應那些不認識神的人，以及那些不順從我們主耶穌福音的人；
