他們度日諸事亨通，在平安中下到陰間。

但災禍臨到你，你不知如何驅除；災害落在你身上，你也無法除掉，你所不知道的毀滅必忽然臨到你身上。

「你們要謹慎，免得被貪食、醉酒和今生的憂慮壓住你們的心，那日子就忽然臨到你們，

惡人的道幽暗，自己不知因何跌倒。

你們要對義人說，他是有福的，因為他必吃自己行為所結的果實。惡人有禍了！他必遭災難！因為他要按自己手所做的受報應。

人正說平安穩定的時候，災禍忽然臨到他們，如同陣痛臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕逃脫不了。

所以，你們也要預備，因為在你們想不到的時候，人子就來了。」

判罪之後不立刻執行，所以世人滿懷作惡的心思。罪人雖然作惡百次，倒享長壽；然而我也知道，福樂必臨到敬畏神的人，就是在他面前心存敬畏的人。

惡人犯罪，自陷圈套；惟獨義人歡呼喜樂。

人不知道自己的定期。魚被險惡的網圈住，鳥被羅網捉住，禍患的時刻忽然臨到，世人陷在其中也是如此。
