His fellow answered,“ This is nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel. God has delivered Midian into his hand, with all the army.”

其同伴曰、此無他、乃以色列人約阿施子基甸之刀、天主必以米甸人與全軍軍或作營付於其手、

His friend responded,“ This can be nothing other than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has given the Midianites and the whole camp into his hands.”

His friend replied,“ That can only be the sword of Gideon, the son of Joash. Gideon is from Israel. God has handed the Midianites over to him. He has given him the whole camp.”

And his comrade answered,“ This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp.”

His companion answered,“ Your dream can mean only one thing— God has given Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite, victory over Midian and all its allies!”

His friend answered,“ This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has handed the entire Midianite camp over to him.”

And his friend replied,“ This is nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has handed over to him Midian and all the camp.”

Then his companion answered and said,“ This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel! Into his hand God has delivered Midian and the whole camp.”

And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: into his hand God hath delivered Midian, and all the host.

His friend answered:“ This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has handed the entire Midianite camp over to him.”

And his fellow answered and said, This[ is] nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel:[ for] into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

The other man said,“ Without a doubt this symbolizes the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God is handing Midian and all the army over to him.”

She said to the men,“ I know that Yahweh has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

When all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, their heart melted, and there was no more spirit in them, because of the children of Israel.

They said to Joshua,“ Truly Yahweh has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”

Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam,“ I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, Yahweh has kept you back from honor.”Balaam said to Balak,“ Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,‘ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond Yahweh’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what Yahweh says’?

Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Behold, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can’t reverse it.

Yahweh put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said,“ Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”

For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians to hear the sound of chariots, and the sound of horses, even the noise of a great army; and they said to one another,“ Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.”Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

Balaam said to Balak,“ Behold, I have come to you. Have I now any power at all to speak anything? The word that God puts in my mouth, that shall I speak.”

The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
