Now the Ephraimites asked Gideon,“ Why have you treated us like this? Why didn’t you call us when you went to fight Midian?” And they challenged him vigorously.

The men of Ephraim asked Gideon,“ Why have you treated us like this? Why didn’t you ask us to help you when you went out to fight against Midian?” In anger they challenged Gideon.

Then the men of Ephraim said to him,“ What is this that you have done to us, not to call us when you went to fight against Midian?” And they accused him fiercely.

Then the people of Ephraim asked Gideon,“ Why have you treated us this way? Why didn’t you send for us when you first went out to fight the Midianites?” And they argued heatedly with Gideon.

The men of Ephraim said to him,“ Why have you done this to us, not calling us when you went to fight against the Midianites?” And they argued with him violently.

Then the men of Ephraim said to Gideon,“ What is this thing that you have done to us, not calling upon us when you went to fight against Midian?” And they quarreled with him vehemently.

Now the men of Ephraim said to him,“ Why have you done this to us by not calling us when you went to fight with the Midianites?” And they reprimanded him sharply.

And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with Midian? And they did chide with him sharply.

后来，所有的以色列人来见大卫，说：“为什么我们的弟兄犹大人偷偷地送王、王的家眷和王的部下渡河？”

我又看见人的一切劳碌和成就原是出于争强好胜。这也是虚空，如同捕风。

愤恨害死愚昧人，嫉妒杀死无知者。

后来，以法莲人召集军队，渡过约旦河来到撒分。他们对耶弗他说：“你为什么不召我们一起去攻打亚扪人呢？我们要把你和你的房子一起烧掉。”耶弗他说：“我和我的人民与亚扪人激战时，我曾召你们参战，你们却不肯来援救我们。我见你们不来援救，只好冒死去迎战亚扪人，耶和华把敌人交在了我手中。你们今天为什么来攻打我呢？”以法莲人说：“你们这些在以法莲和玛拿西境内的基列人不过是以法莲的逃亡者。”于是，耶弗他号召基列人起来迎战以法莲人，打败了他们。基列人占据约旦河各渡口，不让以法莲人过去。如果有以法莲的逃兵请求过河，基列人便问他：“你是以法莲人吗？”如果他否认，他们就让他说“示播列”。因为以法莲人咬字不清，如果有人把“示播列”说成“西播列”，基列人便抓住他，在那里处死他。那时，有四万二千名以法莲人被杀。

圣经上说：“上帝所赐、住在我们心里的圣灵深愿我们完全属于祂。”你们以为这是空谈吗？但上帝赐给我们更大的恩典，所以圣经上说：“上帝阻挡骄傲的人，恩待谦卑的人。”
