He does not restrain it when he speaks.God’s voice is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.

The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox.The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning.The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts,“ Glory!”The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever.

He covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, and makes the grass grow in mountain pastures.

Then Elijah said to Ahab,“ Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!”

And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel.Then the Lord gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.

So Moses lifted his staff toward the sky, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed toward the earth. The Lord sent a tremendous hailstorm against all the land of Egypt.

Ask the Lord for rain in the spring, for he makes the storm clouds. And he will send showers of rain so every field becomes a lush pasture.

Sing to the one who rides across the ancient heavens, his mighty voice thundering from the sky.
