你們知道，你們作外邦人的時候，隨事被引誘，受了迷惑去拜不會出聲的偶像。

有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞，有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，有喉卻不能說話。造它們的要像它們一樣，凡靠它們的也必如此。

你們要指明未來的事，使我們知道你們是神明！你們或降福，或降禍，好使我們驚奇，一同觀看。看哪，你們屬乎虛無，你們的作為也屬虛空；那選擇你們的是可憎惡的。

禍哉！那對木頭說「醒起」，對啞巴石頭說「起來」的人！偶像豈能教導人呢？看哪，它以金銀包裹，其中並無氣息。

彼勒叩拜，尼波屈身；巴比倫的偶像馱在走獸和牲畜背上。你們所抬的成了重馱，使牲畜疲乏。

牠得了權柄在第一隻獸面前能行奇事，迷惑住在地上的人，告訴他們要為那受過刀傷還活着的獸造個像。又有權柄賜給牠，讓那隻獸的像有生氣，並且能說話，又使所有不拜獸像的人都被殺害。

關於吃祭過偶像的食物，我們知道「偶像在世上算不得甚麼」；也知道「神只有一位，沒有別的」。

有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。造它們的要像它們一樣，凡靠它們的也必如此。

「你們從列國逃脫的人，要一同聚集前來。那些抬着雕刻的木偶、祈求不能救人之神明的，毫無知識。

製造偶像的人盡都虛空，他們所喜悅的全無益處；偶像的見證人毫無所見，毫無所知，以致他們羞愧。誰製造神像，鑄造偶像？這些都是無益的。
