The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they will not help them at all when disaster strikes.

The people of Jerusalem and of the towns of Judah will cry out. They will cry out to the gods they burn incense to. But those gods will not help them at all when trouble strikes them.

Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble.

爾所作諸神安在、爾遭患難時、何不起而救爾、猶大歟、爾神之數、與爾邑之數相等、

彼困迫亞哈斯王之時、亞哈斯王愈干犯主、或作急難之際亞哈斯王愈干犯主

爾自列邦得脫者、俱集而至、同就以聽斯言、惟彼攜其木偶、禱不能施救之神者、悉屬無知、

爾所選之神、爾往籲之、爾遭難時、使彼救爾、

必循我口所出之言而為、必焚香灌奠、奉事天后、循我平日所為、循昔我列祖與王公、在猶大諸邑、在耶路撒冷街衢所為、當時我得飽食享福、不遇患難、自我不焚香灌奠、奉事天后、我則缺乏一切、又遇鋒刃饑饉而亡、婦女曰、我焚香灌奠並作餅、以奉事天后、豈非我夫所許乎、耶利米告答之之諸男女庶民曰、爾曹與爾列祖、王公、及國中眾民、在猶大諸邑、在耶路撒冷街衢、若是焚香、主悉思念、記憶在心、因爾之惡行、因爾所作可憎之事、主不能復容忍、故使爾土地荒蕪、令人驚駭、受咒詛、無人居處、有如今日之景象、因爾焚香、獲罪於主、不聽從主命、不遵行主之律例典章法度、故爾遭遇此災、有如今日之景象、耶利米又告眾民及眾婦女曰、猶大人眾、居伊及地者、須聽主言、萬有之主以色列之天主如是云、爾與爾妻、口曾出言曰、我曾許願焚香灌奠、奉事天后、必償我願、爾曹果循爾口所言、以手成之、執意償爾之願、今爾曹居伊及之眾猶大人、宜聽主言、主曰、我指己之大名而誓、遍伊及所有之猶大人、不使其一人復稱我名曰、我指主耶和華永生而誓云、主又曰、我決意降之以禍、不降之以福、凡在伊及之猶大人、必亡於鋒刃饑饉、殲滅殆盡、
