The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they will not help them at all when disaster strikes.

The people of Jerusalem and of the towns of Judah will cry out. They will cry out to the gods they burn incense to. But those gods will not help them at all when trouble strikes them.

Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble.

說：「他們的神、他們避難於其中的碞石、在哪裏呢？

但你的神、你為自己所作的、在哪裏呢？你遭遇患難時，他們若能拯救你，你叫他們起來吧！唉，猶大啊，你的神就等於你城市的數目那麼多呀！

在急難時候、這位亞哈斯王對永恆主越發不忠實。

『列國逃脫的人哪，集合攏來，一同走近前哦！那些抬着木頭雕像的、直禱告那不能救人之神的、毫無知識。

你們去向你們所選擇的神哀呼！讓他在你們遭遇患難時拯救你們吧。』

我們一定要實行我們口中所說出的一切話：向天后燻祭，澆奠祭，按着我們和我們列祖、我們的王和首領在猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上素常所行的一樣；那時我們喫飽飯，享福樂，不見災禍呀。自從我們停止了向天后燻祭、澆奠祭，我們倒缺乏了一切，又因刀劍饑荒而滅絕了。』婦女們說：『我們向天后燻祭，澆奠祭，難道沒有我們丈夫的同意就作天后像的祭餅去供奉她，向她澆奠祭麼？』耶利米對眾民男女，對那些用這種話回答他、的眾民說：『你們和你們列祖、你們的王和首領、以及國中之民、在猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上所燒的燻祭，永恆主哪能不記得，那事哪能不湧上他心頭呢？永恆主因你們行為之敗壞、因你們所行可厭惡的事、再也不能容忍，故此你們的地才荒廢，成了令人驚駭、令人咒詛的對象，沒有人居住、就如今日一樣。因為你們燻祭，因為你們犯罪得罪了永恆主，沒有聽永恆主的聲音，他的律法、條例、法度、你們都沒有遵行，故此這災禍才到了你們，就如今日一樣。』耶利米又對眾民和眾婦女說：『你們在埃及地所有的猶大人哪，要聽永恆主的話哦。萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：你們婦女們都口中說、手裏作成了說：「我們一定要實行我們所許的願：向天后燻祭，澆奠祭」！那麼只管立定你們許的願吧！只管實行你們許的願詞吧！故此住埃及地所有的猶大人哪，你們要聽永恆主的話哦：永恆主說，看吧，我指着我的大名來起誓：在埃及全地我的名必不再被猶大族任何人的口稱呼說：「我指着永活的主永恆主來起誓。」看吧，我在儆醒留意着他們、以降禍而不降福；在埃及地所有的猶大人都必因刀劍饑荒而滅亡，直到滅盡。
