耶和華告民曰、爾雖堅剛若鐵、豈及北方之鐵、與銅交融、為不可毀乎。

“ Can a man break iron— iron from the north— or bronze?

“ People of Judah, the armies of Babylon will come from the north. They are as strong as iron and bronze. Can anyone break their power?

Can one break iron, iron from the north, and bronze?

Can anyone smash iron, iron from the north, or bronze?

“ Can anyone smash iron, Iron from the north, or bronze?

Can anyone break iron, The northern iron and the bronze?

Can one break iron, even iron from the north, and brass?

Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?

Can you people who are like iron and bronze break that iron fist from the north?

The Lord replied,“ Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.I am raising up the Babylonians, a cruel and violent people. They will march across the world and conquer other lands.They are notorious for their cruelty and do whatever they like.Their horses are swifter than cheetahs and fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their charioteers charge from far away. Like eagles, they swoop down to devour their prey.“ On they come, all bent on violence. Their hordes advance like a desert wind, sweeping captives ahead of them like sand.They scoff at kings and princes and scorn all their fortresses. They simply pile ramps of earth against their walls and capture them!

For see, today I have made you strong like a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron pillar or a bronze wall. You will stand against the whole land— the kings, officials, priests, and people of Judah.They will fight you, but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his?

‘ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I will make your weapons useless against the king of Babylon and the Babylonians who are outside your walls attacking you. In fact, I will bring your enemies right into the heart of this city.I myself will fight against you with a strong hand and a powerful arm, for I am very angry. You have made me furious!

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: I have put a yoke of iron on the necks of all these nations, forcing them into slavery under King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have put everything, even the wild animals, under his control.’”

“ What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,‘ Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim,‘ How clumsy can you be?’
