“ Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are?

“ Jerusalem, who will have pity on you? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are doing?

“ Who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, or who will grieve for you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?

“ Who will feel sorry for you, Jerusalem? Who will weep for you? Who will even bother to ask how you are?

Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will show sympathy toward you? Who will turn aside to ask about your well-being?

“ For who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem? Or who will bemoan you? Or who will turn aside to ask how you are doing?

For who will have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who will bemoan thee? or who will turn aside to ask of thy welfare?

Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will show sympathy toward you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?

For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?

The LORD cried out,“ Who in the world will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will grieve over you? Who will stop long enough to inquire about how you are doing?

For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn you? Who will come to ask of your welfare?

These two things have happened to you; Who will mourn for you? The devastation and destruction, famine and sword; How shall I comfort you?

And it will come about that all who see you Will shrink from you and say,‘ Nineveh is devastated! Who will have sympathy for her?’ Where shall I seek comforters for you?”

Then afterward,” declares the Lord,“ I will hand Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, that is, those who survive in this city from the plague, the sword, and the famine, over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to their enemies, and to those who seek their lives; and he will strike and kill them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.” ’

Disgrace has broken my heart, and I am so sick. And I waited for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.

So they turned aside there and came to the house of the young man, the Levite, to the house of Micah, and asked him how he was doing.

Then David left the baggage in the care of the baggage keeper and ran to the battle line. And he entered and greeted his brothers.

For this is what the Lord says:“ Do not enter a house of mourning, or go to mourn or to console them; for I have withdrawn My peace from this people,” declares the Lord,“ and My favor and compassion.

“ Is it nothing to all you who pass this way? Look and see if there is any pain like my pain Which was inflicted on me, With which the Lord tormented me on the day of His fierce anger.From the height He sent fire into my bones, And it dominated them. He has spread a net for my feet; He has turned me back; He has made me desolate, Faint all day long.The yoke of my wrongdoings is bound; By His hand they are woven together. They have come upon my neck; He has made my strength fail. The Lord has handed me over To those against whom I am not able to stand.The Lord has thrown away all my strong men In my midst; He has called an appointed time against me To crush my young men; The Lord has trodden as in a wine press The virgin daughter of Judah.For these things I weep; My eyes run down with water; Because far from me is a comforter, One to restore my soul. My children are desolate Because the enemy has prevailed.”

Pity me, pity me, you friends of mine, For the hand of God has struck me.

And they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you will accept from their hand.

So David sent ten young men; and David said to the young men,“ Go up to Carmel and visit Nabal, and greet him in my name;

All who pass along the way Clap their hands in ridicule at you; They hiss and shake their heads At the daughter of Jerusalem:“ Is this the city of which they said,‘ Perfect in beauty, A joy to all the earth’?”All your enemies Have opened their mouths wide against you; They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say,“ We have engulfed her! This certainly is the day which we awaited; We have reached it, we have seen it!”

Then I will smash them against each other, both the fathers and the sons together,” declares the Lord.“ I will not have compassion nor be troubled nor take pity so as to keep from destroying them.” ’ ”

Then Moses went out to meet his father in law, and he bowed down and kissed him; and they asked each other about their welfare, and went into the tent.
