“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:‘ Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff- necked and would not listen to my words.’”

“ The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,‘ Listen! I am going to punish this city and all the villages around it. I am going to bring against them all the trouble I have announced. That’s because my people were stubborn. They would not listen to what I said.’ ”

你们的列祖却没有听从，毫不在意，反而硬着颈项不肯听，不受管教。’”

你们（“你们”原文作“他们”）却没有听从，毫不留心，反倒硬着颈项行恶，比你们（“你们”原文作“他们”）的列祖还厉害。

你警告他们，要他们转向你的律法；但他们狂妄自大，不听从你的诫命，犯罪干犯你的典章。人应遵行这些典章，按照它们生活，他们却固执地扭转肩头，硬着颈项，不肯听从。

他们拒绝听从，也不记念你在他们中间所行的奇事，硬着颈项，存心悖逆，自立首领，要回到他们为奴之地去。但你是乐意饶恕的神，你有恩典，有怜悯，不轻易发怒，并有丰盛的慈爱，所以你没有撇弃他们。

他们却戏弄神的使者，藐视他的话，讥诮他的先知，以致耶和华的忿怒临到他的子民身上，直到无法挽救。耶和华使迦勒底人的王上来攻打他们，在他们的圣殿里用刀杀了他们的壮丁，少男和少女以及年老衰弱的，他们都不怜惜；耶和华把所有这些人都交在迦勒底王的手里。

我不断差遣我的仆人众先知到你们那里去，对你们说：你们各人要悔改，离开自己的恶道，改正你们的行为，不可随从事奉别神；这样，你们就可以住在我赐给你们和你们列祖的土地上。只是你们毫不在意，也没有听从我。利甲的儿子约拿达的子孙实行了他们祖先吩咐他们的命令，但这人民没有听从我。’因此，耶和华万军的神、以色列的神这样说：‘看哪！我必使我对他们预告过的一切灾祸，临到犹大人和耶路撒冷所有的居民，因为我对他们说话，他们却不听从；我呼唤他们，他们却不回应。’”

但他们不肯听从，反而硬着颈项，充耳不闻（“反而硬着颈项，充耳不闻”直译是“转着固执的肩膊，使自己的耳朵发沉不听”）。他们使自己的心刚硬如金钢石，不肯听从律法和万军之耶和华藉着他的灵、透过从前的先知所说的话。因此，万军之耶和华非常忿怒。我曾呼唤他们，他们不听；照样，将来他们呼求我，我也不听。这是万军之耶和华说的。我用旋风把他们吹散到他们不认识的列国去，他们留下的地就荒凉了，以致无人来往经过，因为他们使这美好之地变为荒凉了。”

“你们颈项刚硬、心和耳都未受割礼的人哪！你们时常抗拒圣灵，你们的祖先怎样，你们也怎样。有哪一个先知，你们的祖先不迫害呢？你们杀了那些预先宣告那义者要来的人，现在又把那义者出卖了，杀害了。

不是的，你们心中策划奸恶；你们的手在地上施行强暴（本句原文作“你们在地上称出你们手中的强暴”）。恶人一出母胎，就走上歧路；他们一离母腹，就走偏了路，常说谎话。他们的毒气好像蛇的毒气，又像耳朵塞住的聋虺，不听行法术者的声音，就是极灵的咒语，也是无效。
