我聞眾人之讒謗、我隨在驚惶、彼此相語必控我、素與我相交在我側者、亦云我儕盍誘之、或可勝之、以復我仇於其身、

I hear many whispering,“ Terror on every side! Denounce him! Let’s denounce him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying,“ Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him.”

I hear many people whispering,“ There is terror on every side! Bring charges against Jeremiah! Let’s bring charges against him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip. They are saying,“ Perhaps he will be tricked into making a mistake. Then we’ll win out over him. We’ll get even with him.”

For I hear many whispering. Terror is on every side!“ Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” say all my close friends, watching for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be deceived; then we can overcome him and take our revenge on him.”

I have heard the many rumors about me. They call me“ The Man Who Lives in Terror.” They threaten,“ If you say anything, we will report it.” Even my old friends are watching me, waiting for a fatal slip.“ He will trap himself,” they say,“ and then we will get our revenge on him.”

For I have heard the gossip of many people,“ Terror is on every side! Report him; let’s report him!” Everyone I trusted watches for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be deceived so that we might prevail against him and take our vengeance on him.”

For I have heard the whispering of many,“ Terror on every side! Denounce him; let’s denounce him!” All my trusted friends, Watching for my fall, say:“ Perhaps he will be persuaded, so that we may prevail against him And take our revenge on him.”

For I heard many mocking:“ Fear on every side!”“ Report,” they say,“ and we will report it!” All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying,“ Perhaps he can be induced; Then we will prevail against him, And we will take our revenge on him.”

For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

For I have heard the gossip of many people,“ Terror is on every side! Report him; let’s report him!” Everyone I trusted watches for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be deceived so that we might prevail against him and take our vengeance on him.”

For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report,[ say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting,[ saying], Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

I hear many whispering words of intrigue against me. Those who would cause me terror are everywhere! They are saying,“ Come on, let’s publicly denounce him!” All my so-called friends are just watching for something that would lead to my downfall. They say,“ Perhaps he can be enticed into slipping up, so we can prevail over him and get our revenge on him.

For I have heard the defaming of many,“ Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”

予聞眾民之訕謗、欲設謀而殺予、予隨在而驚惶兮、

我之友朋、予所恃兮、乃與我共食、舉踵踶予兮、

耶洗別遣人告以利亞曰、如於明日斯時、我不殺爾、若爾殺彼者、則願上帝降罰於我。

人曰、祭司有律例、智士有箴規、先知有預言、如耶利米其言不可信、予當批其頰、而謀害之。

作惡之人、廣樹黨援、爾其庇佑予兮、彼世人兮、礪其舌鋒、猶之利刃、出其語剌、無異發矢兮、不知戒懼、陰中無辜、出諸倉猝兮、

匿怨而友、播揚人惡、愚者之所為也。

同心之友、厭棄我躬、眷愛之人、反來攻我、

予知斯人、乃予同儔、乃予密友、昔與心交、同詣上帝之室、

揚虛誕以殺人、食岡巒之祭品、行諸淫亂、

其畧曰、基善有言、異邦人聞爾與猶大人將叛、故築斯城、欲僭稱王、爾使先知托神言、謂爾當為猶大王、都耶路撒冷、吾恐人以此奏王、故請爾至此、與我相議耳。我對曰、爾所云云、毫無確據、乃爾私心忖度。彼言此、欲以懼我、使我心危、工作廢弛、然我志益銳。米希大別孫、地來雅子、示罵雅、杜門不出、我造其廬、彼曰、爾我當入上帝殿、閉其門、有殺爾者、今夕猝至。我曰、豈有我而逃遁者乎、豈有我而入殿、倖保己命者乎、是謀我不為也。蓋吾知其言非上帝所遣、乃受多比、撒八拉之賄而云然。欲恐喝我、使我犯罪、敗我令聞、彼得以侮我。

言時、士子𠵽唎㘔人深疾之、多端攻詰、設伏以伺、欲因其口說、陷而罪之、

勿往於田、勿行於途、敵人執刃、四周震懼、

平旦猶太人共謀、誓不殺保羅不飲食、同誓者四十餘人、就祭司諸長與長老曰、我儕曾誓、不殺保羅不食、今請爾曹與公會告千夫長、明日曳之見爾、言欲詳訊其情、於將至時、要而殺之、

乃賄人使流言曰、我聞此人、僭妄摩西及上帝、百姓聳動與長老士子、突至執之、曳至公會、設證誣之曰、此人僭妄聖所律法不已、我儕曾聞其言曰、拿撒勒耶穌、將毀此所、改摩西所授之例也、於是、公會中坐者、皆目注士提反、見其容若天使然、

祭司諸長、長老、全公會、求妄證攻耶穌、欲死之、而弗得也、雖多妄證者至、亦未得其證焉、後有妄證二人至、

告之曰、王命拘幽此人、供餅給水、使嘗艱苦、迨我安歸。

眾聞言、暴怒、謀殺之、

乃窺之、遣偵者、偽為義人、欲即其言、解與方伯、按治之、

以色列王曰、尚有一人、音拉子米該亞、可以之諮諏耶和華。然我嘗憾其人、因彼所預言、有凶而無吉。約沙法曰、王毋言是。

希羅底由是怨約翰、欲殺之而弗得、蓋希律知約翰義且聖、有聞頻行、欣然聽受、尊而護之、會希律誕日、肆筵、宴諸大夫、千夫長、加利利尊者、希羅底女入舞、希律及同席者喜、王謂女曰、凡爾所求、我予爾、且矢之、曰、爾所求、即國之半、我亦予爾、女退、問母曰、我當何求、其母曰、施洗約翰之首、女亟入見王、請曰、我欲施洗約翰首、盤上即時賜我、王甚憂、然既誓、又以同席者在、無可拒、乃遣卒、取約翰首、遂斬於獄、盛首於盤賜女、女獻母、

亞哈曰、爾為我敵、今乃與我相遇乎。曰、我遇爾者、因爾在耶和華前、惟惡是務。

今而後、一家五人將分爭、三爭二、二爭三、父爭子、子爭父、母爭女、女爭母、姑爭婦、婦爭姑焉、○

眾聞言、忿恚切齒、

今訟我之事、彼無所據、

越五日、祭司長亞拿尼亞、與諸長老、及辯士帖土羅至、訟保羅於方伯前、保羅被召、帖土羅訟之曰、我儕感閣下腓力士恩、隨在時享太平、藉爾前知、我國得以齊治、今不敢少延、第求寛宥、聽我片言、蓋見此人、乃惑民之徒、震動擾亂天下猶太人、為拿撒勒黨之首、彼欲犯殿、我儕執之、將按我律審之、惟千夫長呂西亞忽至、強甚、奪而曳之去、命訟者就爾、爾訊、可知我所訟諸端、猶太人從而和之曰、此言是也、

仇敵環攻、如獅之吞噬、如火之燎原、斯世之人、齒若戈矢、舌若鋒刃兮。
