I will personally fight against the people in Jerusalem, that mighty fortress— the people who boast,“ No one can touch us here. No one can break in here.”

『永恆主發神諭說：住山谷和平原磐石上的人哪，你們說：「誰能下來攻擊我們？誰能進入我們的住處呢？」看哪，我跟你們為敵呢。

居於谷中、平原之磐者歟、爾曰、孰能降而擊我、孰能入我窟穴、耶和華曰、我為爾敵、

耶和華曰、爾居陵谷、處平原、據巖穴以為家、自謂無人干犯、無人入室、我耶和華攻爾、視爾所行而加刑罰、燃火於林、四面焚燬。

惟爾居山谷與平原之磐巖者、爾云、孰能下而攻我、孰能入我居所、主曰、我必臨而攻爾、

I am against you, Jerusalem, you who live above this valley on the rocky plateau, declares the Lord— you who say,“ Who can come against us? Who can enter our refuge?”

Jerusalem, I am against you,” announces the Lord.“ You live above this valley. You are on a high, rocky plain. And you say,‘ Who can come against us? Who can enter our place of safety?’

“ Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, O rock of the plain, declares the Lord; you who say,‘ Who shall come down against us, or who shall enter our habitations?’

Beware! I am against you, you who sit above the valley, you atop the rocky plateau— this is the LORD’s declaration— you who say,“ Who can come down against us? Who can enter our hiding places?”

“ Behold, I am against you, you inhabitant of the valley, You rocky plain,” declares the Lord,“ You who say,‘ Who will come down against us? Or who will enter our dwellings?’

“ Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, And rock of the plain,” says the Lord,“ Who say,‘ Who shall come down against us? Or who shall enter our dwellings?’

Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain, saith Jehovah; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

Beware! I am against you, you who sit above the valley, you atop the rocky plateau— this is the Lord’s declaration— you who say,“ Who can come down against us? Who can enter our hiding places?”

Behold, I[ am] against thee, O inhabitant of the valley,[ and] rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

Listen, you who sit enthroned above the valley on a rocky plateau. I am opposed to you,’ says the LORD.‘ You boast,“ No one can swoop down on us. No one can penetrate into our places of refuge.”

Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain,’ says Yahweh.‘ You that say,“ Who would come down against us?” or“ Who would enter into our homes?”

Not a king in all the earth— no one in all the world— would have believed that an enemy could march through the gates of Jerusalem.

You have been deceived by your own pride because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains.‘ Who can ever reach us way up here?’ you ask boastfully.But even if you soar as high as eagles and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you crashing down,” says the Lord.

“ Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because what you say is false and your visions are a lie, I will stand against you, says the Sovereign Lord.

“ See, I am your enemy, you arrogant people,” says the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ Your day of reckoning has arrived— the day when I will punish you.

Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.

“ Therefore,” says the Lord,“ I am against these prophets who steal messages from each other and claim they are from me.I am against these smooth tongued prophets who say,‘ This prophecy is from the Lord!’I am against these false prophets. Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin. I did not send or appoint them, and they have no message at all for my people. I, the Lord, have spoken!

You rulers make decisions based on bribes; you priests teach God’s laws only for a price; you prophets won’t prophesy unless you are paid. Yet all of you claim to depend on the Lord.“ No harm can come to us,” you say,“ for the Lord is here among us.”

You are proud of your fertile valleys, but they will soon be ruined. You trusted in your wealth, you rebellious daughter, and thought no one could ever harm you.But look! I will bring terror upon you,” says the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ Your neighbors will chase you from your land, and no one will help your exiles as they flee.

You have been deceived by the fear you inspire in others and by your own pride. You live in a rock fortress and control the mountain heights. But even if you make your nest among the peaks with the eagles, I will bring you crashing down,” says the Lord.

I myself will fight against you with a strong hand and a powerful arm, for I am very angry. You have made me furious!

David then led his men to Jerusalem to fight against the Jebusites, the original inhabitants of the land who were living there. The Jebusites taunted David, saying,“ You’ll never get in here! Even the blind and lame could keep you out!” For the Jebusites thought they were safe.But David captured the fortress of Zion, which is now called the City of David.

This message came to me concerning Jerusalem— the Valley of Vision: What is happening? Why is everyone running to the rooftops?

But don’t be fooled by those who promise you safety simply because the Lord’s Temple is here. They chant,“ The Lord’s Temple is here! The Lord’s Temple is here!”

“ Look, O mighty mountain, destroyer of the earth! I am your enemy,” says the Lord.“ I will raise my fist against you, to knock you down from the heights. When I am finished, you will be nothing but a heap of burnt rubble.

“ On the seventh day you must explain to your children,‘ I am celebrating what the Lord did for me when I left Egypt.’

The Israelites left Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.
