多邦之人經是邑者、將相語曰、耶和華如是待此大邑、何故、

凡鄰國眾庶、經過是邑、互相告語、曰、耶和華罰此大邑、何為至於若斯。

諸國之人、經過是邑、彼此問曰、主何為待此大邑如此、

“ People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’

“ People from many nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’

“‘ And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor,“ Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?”

“ People from many nations will pass by the ruins of this city and say to one another,‘ Why did the Lord destroy such a great city?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the LORD do such a thing to this great city?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city; and they will say to one another,‘ Why has the Lord done this to this great city?’

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city?

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the Lord do such a thing to this great city?’

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

“‘ People from other nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another,“ Why has the LORD done such a thing to this great city?”

“ Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor,‘ Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’

And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will hiss, and say,‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’Then they will answer,‘ Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore the Lord has brought all this calamity on them.’”

then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.“ And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say,‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and this house?’Then they will answer,‘ Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this calamity on them.’”

‘ The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and His wrath.’All nations would say,‘ Why has the Lord done so to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’Then people would say:‘ Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt;for they went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they did not know and that He had not given to them.

All who pass by clap their hands at you; They hiss and shake their heads At the daughter of Jerusalem:“ Is this the city that is called‘ The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth’?”All your enemies have opened their mouth against you; They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say,“ We have swallowed her up! Surely this is the day we have waited for; We have found it, we have seen it!”The Lord has done what He purposed; He has fulfilled His word Which He commanded in days of old. He has thrown down and has not pitied, And He has caused an enemy to rejoice over you; He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.

O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day— to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.

“ And it shall be, when you show this people all these words, and they say to you,‘ Why has the Lord pronounced all this great disaster against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’
