Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people:“ The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have heard.

Peter and the other apostles replied:“ We must obey God rather than human beings! (niv)

Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.” (niv)

But Peter and John replied,“ Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! (niv)

“ This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord. Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word. (niv)

“ Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land— against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. (niv)

This is what the Lord says:“ Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take along some of the elders of the people and of the priestsand go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you,and say,‘ Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle. (niv)

But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’Now then, hear the word of the Lord. You say,“‘ Do not prophesy against Israel, and stop preaching against the descendants of Isaac.’“ Therefore this is what the Lord says:“‘ Your wife will become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be measured and divided up, and you yourself will die in a pagan country. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their native land.’” (niv)
