This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

萬有之主以色列族之上帝耶和華云、爾曾書達耶路撒冷居民、與馬西雅子祭司西番雅及眾祭司、書曰、耶和華俾爾為祭司、以代耶何耶大、兼在耶和華殿為督、凡狂妄者流、自稱為先知、俾爾執之、囚之於獄、加以桎梏。今亞拿突人耶利米、自稱為先知、爾曷弗督責焉。蓋耶利米曾致書至巴比倫、告予曰、時日尚久、當建室以棲身、栽園而食果。祭司西番雅、於先知耶利米前、展讀是書。

以書托之云、使徒長老兄弟、請安提阿、敘利亞、基利家異邦中諸兄弟安、

吾以尺素遺兄弟、請聽我勸勉、

爾當書達以弗所會使者、曰、主右執七星、行於七金燈臺間、言曰、我知爾所為、勤勞忍難、為惡者弗包容、非使徒而冒稱者、爾已試之、知其妄言、爾為我名、含忍雍容而不倦、

希西家召以色列猶大二族、復致書以法蓮馬拿西二支派、使至耶路撒冷、詣耶和華殿守逾越節、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華。正月祭司未得成潔、民未咸至耶路撒冷、不能守此禮、故王與群伯及耶路撒冷會眾、議於二月守逾越節。王與會眾以為善。年久民未循例守禮、故立志普告以色列族、自但及別是巴、使咸至耶路撒冷、守逾越節、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華。王與群伯、使趨承者致書、遍以色列猶大二族、曰、以色列族、當歸亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列之上帝、凡不見害於亞述列王之遺民者、必蒙耶和華祐、

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒虜猶大王約雅金子約雅斤、及猶大諸牧伯、與木工鐵工、自耶路撒冷至巴比倫、厥後耶和華以二筐示予、中盛無花果、置於殿前、一筐之果甚嘉、如初熟之無花果、一筐之果甚劣、不可適口。耶和華問我曰、耶利米與、爾觀何物。曰、無花果、其嘉者甚嘉、其劣者甚劣、不堪適口。耶和華又諭我曰、我以色列族之上帝、耶和華云、猶大民為俘、我所遷徙。自斯土至於迦勒底、我視之若此嘉果、加以眷顧、使返斯土、我必開創之、立其址基、不可翦滅、撥其根本、我必賦以善心、俾知我乃耶和華、一心歸誠、彼為我選民、我為其上帝。

始遺書使爾憂、向亦悔之、而無庸悔也、誠以此書、憂爾者暫耳、
