那時候巴比倫王的軍隊圍困着耶路撒冷，神言人耶利米被關在護衛監的院子，就是在猶大王宮的。

The army of the king of Babylon was then besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was confined in the courtyard of the guard in the royal palace of Judah.

The armies of the king of Babylon were getting ready to attack Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was being held as a prisoner. He was kept in the courtyard of the guard. It was part of Judah’s royal palace.

At that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard that was in the palace of the king of Judah.

Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

於是西底家王下了命令，人就把耶利米交在護衛監的院子裏；每天從製餅街上有個餅給了他，直到城裏的餅都用盡了。耶利米是這樣在護衛監的院子裏呆着的。

接着是烏賽的兒子巴拉修造了譙樓拐角處前面；就是從護衛監院上高聳的王宮凸出來的。接着是巴錄的兒子毘大雅修造了一段，

他們就拿住耶利米，給扔在王子瑪基雅的井裏；那井在護衛監的院子裏；他們用繩子將耶利米縋下去。井裏沒有水，只是淤泥；耶利米就沉陷在淤泥中。

耶利米還被鎖禁在護衛監的院子，永恆主的話第二次傳與耶利米，說：

我叔叔的兒子哈拿篾果然照永恆主的話到護衛監的院子來對我說：「在便雅憫地的亞拿突我那田地、你要買它，因為那基業的繼承權是在於你；贖回的權也是你的；你要買它。」於是我耶利米就知道這是永恆主的話。

應當歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞報很大；因為你們以前的神言人，人也這樣逼迫他們。

耶利米吩咐巴錄說：『我有阻礙、不能進永恆主的殿；

在那裏猶大王西底家把耶利米關了起來，說：『你為甚麼傳神言說：「永恆主這麼說：看吧，我必將這城交在巴比倫王手中，使他攻取這城；

於是護衛長尼布撒拉旦、和尼布沙斯班、要人首領、尼甲沙利薛、貴族首領、以及巴比倫王所有的首領、就打發了人。他們打發了人去，將耶利米從護衛監的院子提出來，交與沙番的孫子亞希甘的兒子基大利，使他帶出去到家裏。於是耶利米就住在人民中間。耶利米還被鎖禁在護衛監院子裏的時候，永恆主的話傳與耶利米說：
