“ You and your people are right in saying,‘ War, starvation, and disease are sure to make this city fall into the hands of the king of Babylon.’ But now I, the LORD God of Israel, have something further to say about this city:

耶利米啊，你们说这座城要因战争、饥荒和瘟疫而落入巴比伦王手中，但以色列的上帝耶和华说，

“论到这城，就是你们说：‘因为刀剑、饥荒和瘟疫的缘故，交在巴比伦王手中的’，现在耶和华以色列的神却这样说：

爾嘗言斯邑之民、戮以鋒刃、因以饉饑、重以疫癘、為巴比倫王所取、惟我以色列族之上帝、昔我忿怒震烈、散民於列邦、今我必撫集之、使歸故土、安居無虞。

今主以色列之天主論斯邑如是云、爾曹言斯邑必因鋒刃、饑饉、疫癘、付於巴比倫王手、

“ You are saying about this city,‘ By the sword, famine and plague it will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon’; but this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:

Here is what you people of Judah are saying about this city.“ By war, hunger and plague it will be handed over to the king of Babylon.” But here is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says.

“ Now therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say,‘ It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by pestilence’:

“ Now I want to say something more about this city. You have been saying,‘ It will fall to the king of Babylon through war, famine, and disease.’ But this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:

“ Now therefore, this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to this city about which you said,‘ It has been handed over to Babylon’s king through sword, famine, and plague’:

“ Now therefore the Lord God of Israel says the following concerning this city of which you say,‘ It has been handed over to the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by plague’:

“ Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say,‘ It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

And now therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence:

“ Now therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to this city about which you said,‘ It has been handed over to Babylon’s king through sword, famine, and plague’:

And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say,“ It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

Even now siege ramps have been built up around the city in order to capture it. War, starvation, and disease are sure to make the city fall into the hands of the Babylonians who are attacking it. LORD, you threatened that this would happen. Now you can see that it is already taking place.

For King Zedekiah had confined Jeremiah there after he had reproved him for prophesying as he did. He had asked Jeremiah,“ Why do you keep prophesying these things? Why do you keep saying that the LORD says,‘ I will hand this city over to the king of Babylon? I will let him capture it.

Therefore I, the LORD, say:‘ I will indeed hand this city over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and the Babylonian army. They will capture it.

among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest…But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ– by grace you are saved!–

Then you will remember your evil behavior and your deeds which were not good; you will loathe yourselves on account of your sins and your abominable deeds.Understand that it is not for your sake I am about to act, declares the sovereign LORD. Be ashamed and embarrassed by your behavior, O house of Israel.

However, in the future I will allure her; I will lead her back into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.

And you have acted even more wickedly than your ancestors! Each one of you has followed the stubborn inclinations of your own wicked heart and not obeyed me.So I will throw you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your ancestors have ever known. There you must worship other gods day and night, for I will show you no mercy.’”Yet I, the LORD, say:“ A new time will certainly come. People now affirm their oaths with‘ I swear as surely as the LORD lives who delivered the people of Israel out of Egypt.’But in that time they will affirm them with‘ I swear as surely as the LORD lives who delivered the people of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other lands where he had banished them.’ At that time I will bring them back to the land I gave their ancestors.”

Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,

You did not buy me aromatic reeds; you did not present to me the fat of your sacrifices. Yet you burdened me with your sins; you made me weary with your evil deeds.I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember.

I was angry because of their sinful greed; I attacked them and angrily rejected them, yet they remained disobedient and stubborn.I have seen their behavior, but I will heal them and give them rest, and I will once again console those who mourn.
