Baruch son of Neriah did everything Jeremiah the prophet told him to do; at the Lord’s temple he read the words of the Lord from the scroll.

Baruch, the son of Neriah, did everything Jeremiah the prophet told him to do. He went to the Lord’ s temple. There he read the words of the Lord from the scroll.

And Baruch the son of Neriah did all that Jeremiah the prophet ordered him about reading from the scroll the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.

Baruch did as Jeremiah told him and read these messages from the Lord to the people at the Temple.

So Baruch son of Neriah did everything the prophet Jeremiah had commanded him. At the LORD’s temple he read the LORD’s words from the scroll.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.He began by saying to them,“ Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips.“ Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.Jesus said to them,“ Surely you will quote this proverb to me:‘ Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me,‘ Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”“ Truly I tell you,” he continued,“ no prophet is accepted in his hometown.I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed— only Naaman the Syrian.”All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff.But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way. So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and while Jeremiah dictated all the words the Lord had spoken to him, Baruch wrote them on the scroll. (niv)

I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you.I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare.For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. (niv)

When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am. (niv)

He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law. (niv)
