In the ninth month of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a time of fasting before the Lord was proclaimed for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the towns of Judah.

It was in the fifth year that Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, was king of Judah. It was the ninth month of that year. A time of fasting at the Lord’ s temple had been ordered. All the people in Jerusalem were told to take part in it. So were those who had come in from the towns of Judah.

In the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before the Lord.

He did this on a day of sacred fasting held in late autumn, during the fifth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah. People from all over Judah had come to Jerusalem to attend the services at the Temple on that day.

In the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people of Jerusalem and all those coming in from Judah’s cities into Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before the LORD.

Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before the Lord.

Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month,[ that] they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.

All the people living in Jerusalem and all the people who came into Jerusalem from the towns of Judah came to observe a fast before the LORD. The fast took place in the ninth month of the fifth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was ruling over Judah.

Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.

于是约沙法害怕起来，定意要寻求耶和华，就在犹大全地宣告禁食。

尼尼微人信了（“信了”或译：“信服”）神，就宣告禁食，从大到小，都穿上麻衣。

“你要去，把书珊城所有的犹大人都召集起来，为我禁食三天，就是三日三夜不吃不喝；我和我的婢女也要这样禁食。然后我就违例进去见王；我若是死，就死吧。”

那时正是九月，王坐在冬宫里，在他面前有一盆炭火烧着。

你要张开喉咙呼叫，不可停止；你要提高声音，像吹号角一样；你要向我子民宣告他们的过犯，向雅各家陈明他们的罪恶。他们天天寻求我，乐意明白我的道路，好像行义的国民，不离弃他们神的公理；他们向我求问公义的判语，又喜欢亲近神。他们说：“为什么我们禁食，你不看呢？为什么我们刻苦己身，你不理会呢？”看哪！你们在禁食的日子，仍然追求自己喜欢作的事，欺压为你们作工的人。

“你要告诉这地的人民和祭司说：‘这七十年来，你们在五月和七月禁食哀哭，岂是真的为我禁食呢？你们吃，你们喝，岂不是为你们自己吃，为你们自己喝吗？

耶和华说：“现在虽然如此，你们仍要全心全意，以禁食、哭泣、哀号，归向我。”你们要撕裂你们的心肠，不要撕裂你们的衣服。并要归向耶和华你们的神，因为他有恩典有怜悯，不轻易发怒，并且有丰盛的慈爱，随时转意不降灾祸。有谁知道或许他会转意，并且施慈爱，留下余福，就是留下献给耶和华你们的神的素祭和奠祭。你们要在锡安吹号角，把禁食的日子分别为圣，召开严肃会。你们要召集民众，使会众分别为圣；招聚老人，聚集孩童，和在怀中吃奶的婴孩；让新郎从新房出来，新妇从内室出来。让事奉耶和华的祭司在圣殿的廊子和祭坛之间哭泣，让他们说：“耶和华啊！求你怜恤你的子民。不要使你的产业受羞辱，使他们在列国中成为笑谈。为什么容人在万民中讥笑说：‘他们的神在哪里呢？’”

犹大王约西亚的儿子约雅敬第四年，耶和华那里有这话临到耶利米，说：

“万军之耶和华这样说：‘四月的禁食、五月的禁食、七月的禁食和十月的禁食都要变为犹大家欢喜快乐的日子和欢乐的节期。所以，你们要喜爱诚实与和平。’

“七月初十是赎罪日；你们应当有圣会，要刻苦己心，献火祭给耶和华。

这月二十四日，以色列人聚集，一同禁食，身穿麻衣，头上蒙灰。

祭司啊！你们要腰束麻布，并且痛哭。在祭坛侍候的啊！你们要哀号。事奉我的神的啊！你们披上麻布进去过夜吧，因为素祭和奠祭，都从你们的神的殿中止息了。
