But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said,“ You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

He got as far as the Benjamin Gate. But the captain of the guard arrested him. He said,“ You are going over to the side of the Babylonians!” The captain’s name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah. Shelemiah was the son of Hananiah.

When he was at the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

But as he was walking through the Benjamin Gate, a sentry arrested him and said,“ You are defecting to the Babylonians!” The sentry making the arrest was Irijah son of Shelemiah, grandson of Hananiah.

But when he was at the Benjamin Gate, an officer of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, and he apprehended the prophet Jeremiah, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans.”

While he was at the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah the son of Hananiah was there; and he arrested Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”

And when he was in the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou art falling away to the Chaldeans.

But when he was at the Benjamin Gate, an officer of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, and he apprehended Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward[ was] there, whose name[ was] Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.

But he only got as far as the Benjamin Gate. There an officer in charge of the guards named Irijah, who was the son of Shelemiah and the grandson of Hananiah, stopped him. He seized Jeremiah and said,“ You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

王宮內有宦官、古實人以伯米勒、聞人下耶利米於坑、知王坐於便雅憫門、

全地必變為平原、變為平原或作變若亞拉巴自迦巴延及臨門、在耶路撒冷之南、耶路撒冷城必將高起、高起或作崛興其中人民、仍居原處、自便雅憫門至於古門之處、古門之處或作先前有門之處延及邑隅之門、自哈楠業戍樓至王之壓酒處、

凡居斯邑者、必遇鋒刃饑饉瘟疫而亡、凡出而降於圍困爾之迦勒底人者、則得存活、得保全其生命、

訟之曰、我見此人惑民、禁納稅於該撒、自稱為王基督、

今訟我之事、彼無所據、

瑪坦子示法提亞、巴施戶珥子基大利、示利米亞子猶甲、瑪勒家子巴施戶珥、聞耶利米向民眾所言曰、

乃賄人使流言云、我聞此人出言褻瀆摩西及天主、

蓋我儕見此人如癘疫然、震動擾亂天下之猶太人、為拿撒勒異道之黨首領之一、彼欲污聖殿、我儕執之、將按我律法審之、惟千夫長呂西亞忽至、強甚、於我手中奪之去、命訟之者就爾、爾審問之、則可知我儕所訟諸端、猶太人從而和之曰、事誠如是、

我聞眾人之讒謗、我隨在驚惶、彼此相語必控我、素與我相交在我側者、亦云我儕盍誘之、或可勝之、以復我仇於其身、

彼眾曰、我儕不如設謀、坑害耶利米、攻之以詞、勿聽其所言、蓋祭司非失律法、智者非缺謀略、先知非無預言、

王諭古實人以伯米勒曰、爾自此攜三十人、乘先知耶利米未死、出之於坑、以伯米勒率眾入王宮、至庫樓下、自彼取舊爛之布片、與破敝之衣服、繫之以繩、縋下坑中、至耶利米所、古實人以伯米勒謂耶利米曰、以此舊爛之布片、與破敝之衣服、置於爾腋下、使繩在其上、耶利米如言而行、眾以繩曳耶利米、自坑中而上、於是耶利米仍居獄院、西底家王遣人召先知耶利米、至主殿之第三門、王謂耶利米曰、我有一事問爾、毫勿隱於我、耶利米謂西底家曰、我告爾、爾必殺我、我為爾設謀、爾必不聽我、西底家王私誓謂耶利米曰、我指造我生命永生主而誓、必不殺爾、亦不付爾於索爾命者之手、耶利米謂西底家曰、主萬有之主以色列之天主如是云、如爾出邑見見或作降下同巴比倫王之將帥、則爾必得保全生命、此邑不致被火焚燬、爾與爾全家必得生存、

我耶利米對猶大王西底家如是云、爾曹當項負巴比倫王之軛、服事之與其民、則可得生、主曾言、凡民不願服事巴比倫王、必亡於鋒刃、饑饉、疫癘、今爾與爾民、何為自取死亡、

諸牧伯奏王曰、斯人以如此之言、述於斯邑中所遺之武士百姓、使彼喪膽、斯人不求民之利益、利益或作得平康惟求其害、當殺之、

則詣王宮、諸候伯坐於彼、即繕寫以利沙瑪、示瑪雅子第萊雅、亞革博子以利拿單、沙番子基瑪利亞、哈拿尼亞子西底家、及其餘之侯伯、

今我以此諸國、賜我僕巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、亦以田野之百獸賜之、為其使役、

蓋萬有之主以色列之天主如是云、我以鐵軛、置於斯諸族之項、使彼服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、即田野之百獸、我亦賜之、

伯特利之祭司亞瑪謝、遣人詣以色列王耶羅波安曰、亞摩斯在以色列族中、圖謀以叛王、國不能當其諸言、

或榮或辱、或惡名、或美名、似誘人而誠實、
