But King Zedekiah promised Jeremiah secretly,“ I won’t kill you. And I won’t hand you over to those who want to kill you. That’s just as sure as the Lord is alive. He’s the one who has given us breath.”

西底家王就私下向耶利米说：“我指着那造我们生命之永生的耶和华起誓：我必不杀你，也不将你交在寻索你命的人手中。”

西底家王就私下对耶利米说：“我指着那造我们生命之永生的耶和华起誓：我必不把你处死，也不将你交在寻索你命的人手中。”

西底家王就私下对耶利米说：“我指着那造我们生命之永生的耶和华起誓：我必不把你处死，也不将你交在寻索你命的人手中。”

于是，他私下向耶利米发誓说：“我凭那赐给我们生命的永活的耶和华起誓，我决不杀你，也不把你交在想杀你的人手中。”

于是西底家王私下向耶利米起誓，说：“我指着那创造我们生命的永活的耶和华起誓：我决不杀死你，也不把你交在这些寻索你性命的人的手里。”

西底家王就私下向耶利米說：「我指着那造我們生命之永生的耶和華起誓：我必不殺你，也不將你交在尋索你命的人手中。」

西底家王就私下對耶利米說：「我指着那造我們生命之永生的耶和華起誓：我必不把你處死，也不將你交在尋索你命的人手中。」

西底家王就私下對耶利米說：「我指着那造我們生命之永生的耶和華起誓：我必不把你處死，也不將你交在尋索你命的人手中。」

於是，他私下向耶利米發誓說：「我憑那賜給我們生命的永活的耶和華起誓，我決不殺你，也不把你交在想殺你的人手中。」

於是西底家王私下向耶利米起誓，說：“我指著那創造我們生命的永活的耶和華起誓：我決不殺死你，也不把你交在這些尋索你性命的人的手裡。”

西底家就私下向耶利米起誓說：『那造我們性命的永恆主是活的：我指着他來起誓；我一定不殺死你，也不將你交在這些尋索你性命的人手中。』

西底家王私與耶利米誓曰、我指肇造我魂、維生之耶和華而誓、必不殺爾、亦不付爾於索爾命者之手、

西底家王私誓、謂耶利米曰、我指賜我生命之耶和華而誓、必不殺爾、不付爾於敵手。

西底家王私誓謂耶利米曰、我指造我生命永生主而誓、必不殺爾、亦不付爾於索爾命者之手、

But King Zedekiah swore this oath secretly to Jeremiah:“ As surely as the Lord lives, who has given us breath, I will neither kill you nor hand you over to those who want to kill you.”

Then King Zedekiah swore secretly to Jeremiah,“ As the Lord lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death or deliver you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

So King Zedekiah secretly promised him,“ As surely as the Lord our Creator lives, I will not kill you or hand you over to the men who want you dead.”

King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in private,“ As the LORD lives, who has given us this life, I will not kill you or hand you over to these men who intend to take your life.”

But King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in secret, saying,“ As the Lord lives, who made this life for us, I certainly will not put you to death, nor will I hand you over to these men who are seeking your life.”

So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying,“ As the Lord lives, who made our very souls, I will not put you to death, nor will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

So Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As Jehovah liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.

King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in private,“ As the Lord lives, who has given us this life, I will not kill you or hand you over to these men who want to take your life.”

So Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying,[ As] the LORD liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.

So King Zedekiah made a secret promise to Jeremiah and sealed it with an oath. He promised,“ As surely as the LORD lives who has given us life and breath, I promise you this: I will not kill you or hand you over to those men who want to kill you.”

So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying,“ As Yahweh lives, who made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

I will not find fault with my people forever. I will not always be angry with them. If I were, I would cause their spirits to grow weak. The people I created would faint away.

Then King Zedekiah sent for him. King Zedekiah had Jeremiah brought to the palace. There the king spoke to him in private. The king asked,“ Do you have a message from the Lord for me?”“ Yes,” Jeremiah replied.“ You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.”

But Moses and Aaron fell with their faces to the ground. They cried out,“ God, you are the God who gives life and breath to all living things. Will you be angry with the whole community when only one man sins?”

He came to Jesus at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. We know that God is with you. If he weren’t, you couldn’t do the signs you are doing.”

“ Lord, you are the God who gives life and breath to all living things. Please put someone in charge of this community.

Shephatiah, Gedaliah, Jehukal and Pashhur heard what Jeremiah was telling all the people. Shephatiah was the son of Mattan. Gedaliah was the son of Pashhur. Jehukal was the son of Shelemiah. And Pashhur was the son of Malkijah. These four men heard Jeremiah say,“ The Lord says,‘ Those who stay in this city will die of war, hunger or plague. But those who go over to the side of the Babylonians will live. They will escape with their lives. They will remain alive.’The Lord also says,‘ This city will certainly be handed over to the armies of the king of Babylon. They will capture it.’ ”Then these officials said to the king,“ This man should be put to death. What he says is making the soldiers who are left in this city lose hope. It’s making all the people lose hope too. He isn’t interested in what is best for the people. In fact, he’s trying to destroy them.”“ He’s in your hands,” King Zedekiah answered.“ I can’t do anything to oppose you.”So they took Jeremiah and put him into an empty well. It belonged to Malkijah. He was a member of the royal court. His well was in the courtyard of the guard. Zedekiah’s men lowered Jeremiah by ropes into the well. It didn’t have any water in it. All it had was mud. And Jeremiah sank down into the mud.

This is a prophecy. It is the Lord’ s message about Israel. The Lord spreads out the heavens. He lays the foundation of the earth. He creates the human spirit within a person. He says,

So I will hand over all those people to their enemies who want to kill them. Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.

Remember your Creator before you return to the dust you came from. Remember him before your spirit goes back to God who gave it.

God created the heavens and stretches them out. The Lord spreads out the earth with everything that grows on it. He gives breath to its people. He gives life to those who walk on it. He says to his servant,

Besides, we have all had human fathers who trained us. We respected them for it. How much more should we be trained by the Father of spirits and live!
