The leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the court officials, the priests and all the people of the land who walked between the pieces of the calf,I will deliver into the hands of their enemies who want to kill them. Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.“ I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials into the hands of their enemies who want to kill them, to the army of the king of Babylon, which has withdrawn from you. After that, declares the Lord, I will give Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague, sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will put them to the sword; he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.’ (niv)

“‘ But like the bad figs, which are so bad they cannot be eaten,’ says the Lord,‘ so will I deal with Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the survivors from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt.I will make them abhorrent and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, a curse and an object of ridicule, wherever I banish them.I will send the sword, famine and plague against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their ancestors.’” (niv)

Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought,“ I cannot watch the boy die.” And as she sat there, she began to sob. (niv)

Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.’” So they took her answer back to the king. (niv)

How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come on my father.” (niv)

For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people? How can I bear to see the destruction of my family?” (niv)

Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives violated. (niv)

Now I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place and on those who live here.’” So they took her answer back to the king. (niv)
