约押对亚玛撒说：“我的兄弟，你好吗？”约押用右手握住亚玛撒的胡子，要与他亲吻。亚玛撒没有防备约押手中的刀，约押用这刀刺进他的肚子，他的内脏就流在地上。不用再刺第二刀，亚玛撒就死了。约押和他的兄弟亚比筛继续追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

嘴唇火热，心却奸恶，就像包上银渣的瓦器。憎恶人的用话语掩饰自己，心里却存着诡诈。他的话语虽然动听，你不可信他，因为他心里有七样可厌恶的事。他的怨恨虽然以诡诈掩饰，但他的邪恶必在大会中显露出来。

对他说：“亚扪王巴利斯派尼探雅的儿子以实玛利来杀你，你知道吗？”亚希甘的儿子基大利不相信他们。后来加利亚的儿子约哈难在米斯巴私下告诉基大利说：“请容我去把尼探雅的儿子以实玛利杀了，必没有人知道；为什么要让他杀你，以致集合到你那里来的所有犹大人都分散，犹大余剩的人都灭亡呢？”但亚希甘的儿子基大利对加利亚的儿子约哈难说：“你不可作这事，因为你所说关于以实玛利的事都是谎话！”

但在七月的时候，王裔以利沙玛的孙子、尼探雅的儿子以实玛利，带了十个人和他一起，他们袭击基大利，把他杀死，和他一起在米斯巴的犹大人和迦勒底人，也被杀死。

傲慢只能引起争端；接受劝告的却有智慧。

耶稣还在说话的时候，来了一群人，十二门徒中的犹大走在前头，到了耶稣跟前要用嘴亲他。耶稣对他说：“犹大，你用亲吻作暗号出卖人子吗？”

他们对我以恶报善，以憎恨回报我的爱。

烈怒虽然凶残，暴怒又好像狂澜，人还可以忍受；但面对嫉妒，谁能站立得住呢？

押尼珥回到了希伯仑，约押就拉他到城门的瓮洞里与他密谈。约押就在那里刺透他的肚子，他就死了。这样，他替自己的兄弟亚撒黑报了血仇。

那些吃王膳的必毁灭他；他的军队必被冲没，受重伤而倒毙的很多。至于那两个王，他们都存心不良；他们同桌吃饭，也彼此说谎；他们的阴谋却不成功，因为要到了指定的时候，结局才会来到。
