They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.When Baasha heard about it, he quit building Ramah and stopped his work.Then King Asa brought all Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had built it with. Then he built Geba and Mizpah with them.At that time, the seer Hanani came to King Asa of Judah and said to him,“ Because you depended on the king of Aram and have not depended on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from you.Were not the Cushites and Libyans a vast army with many chariots and horsemen? When you depended on the LORD, he handed them over to you.For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him. You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.”Asa was enraged with the seer and put him in prison because of his anger over this. And Asa mistreated some of the people at that time.

He attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, all Chinnereth, and the whole land of Naphtali.When Baasha heard about it, he quit building Ramah and stayed in Tirzah.Then King Asa gave a command to everyone without exception in Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had built it with. Then King Asa built Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah with them.

The men of Israel saw that they were in trouble because the troops were in a difficult situation. They hid in caves, in thickets, among rocks, and in holes and cisterns.

When Saul came to the sheep pens along the road, a cave was there, and he went in to relieve himself. David and his men were staying in the recesses of the cave,

Now the five defeated kings had fled and hidden in the cave at Makkedah.It was reported to Joshua,“ The five kings have been found; they are hiding in the cave at Makkedah.”Joshua said,“ Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and station men by it to guard the kings.

They let themselves be seen by the Philistine garrison, and the Philistines said,“ Look, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they’ve been hiding!”

The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and on mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.

When all the Israelite men who had been hiding in the hill country of Ephraim heard that the Philistines were fleeing, they also joined Saul and Jonathan in the battle.
