The prophets are as wind, And the word is not in them. So it will be done to them!”

先知的话必成为风；道也不在他们里面。这灾必临到他们身上。

先知為風、道不在於其中、彼之所言、必及己身、

先知有言、災必及民、民謂其言虛誕若風、未嘗奉命於上。

先知所言、非由神感、必顯為空虛若風、彼所遭遇者若此、

The prophets are but wind and the word is not in them; so let what they say be done to them.”

The prophets are nothing but wind. Their message doesn’t come from the Lord. So let what they say will happen be done to them.”

God’s prophets are all windbags who don’t really speak for him. Let their predictions of disaster fall on themselves!’”

“ How long will you say these things, And the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?

But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, the prophets are telling them,‘ You will not see a sword, nor will you have famine; on the contrary, I will give you lasting peace in this place.’ ”

Then they said,“ Come and let’s devise plans against Jeremiah. Certainly the Law is not going to be lost by the priest, nor advice by the wise, nor the divine word by the prophet! Come, and let’s strike at him with our tongue, and let’s pay no attention to any of his words.”

Do you intend to rebuke my words, When the words of one in despair belong to the wind?

For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, Because for me the word of the Lord has resulted In taunting and derision all day long.But if I say,“ I will not remember Him Nor speak anymore in His name,” Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am tired of holding it in, And I cannot endure it.For I have heard the whispering of many,“ Terror on every side! Denounce him; let’s denounce him!” All my trusted friends, Watching for my fall, say:“ Perhaps he will be persuaded, so that we may prevail against him And take our revenge on him.”But the Lord is with me like a powerful champion; Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will be put to great shame because they have failed, An everlasting disgrace that will not be forgotten.

Within two years I am going to bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took from this place and brought to Babylon.

The days of punishment have come, The days of retribution have come; Let Israel know this! The prophet is a fool, The inspired person is insane, Because of the grossness of your wrongdoing, And because your hostility is so great.
