阿荷利巴啊，主耶和華如此說：「我必激動你先愛而後生疏的人來攻擊你。我必使他們來，在你四圍攻擊你。所來的就是巴比倫人、迦勒底的眾人、比割人、書亞人、哥亞人，同着他們的還有亞述眾人，乃是作省長、副省長、作軍長有名聲的，都騎着馬，是可愛的少年人。他們必帶兵器、戰車、輜重車，率領大眾來攻擊你。他們要拿大小盾牌，頂盔擺陣，在你四圍攻擊你。我要將審判的事交給他們，他們必按着自己的條例審判你。我必以忌恨攻擊你；他們必以忿怒辦你。他們必割去你的鼻子和耳朵；你遺留的人必倒在刀下。他們必擄去你的兒女；你所遺留的必被火焚燒。

各城的人因馬兵和弓箭手的響聲就都逃跑，進入密林，爬上磐石；各城被撇下，無人住在其中。

「日、月、星辰要顯出異兆，地上的邦國也有困苦；因海中波浪的響聲，就慌慌不定。天勢都要震動，人想起那將要臨到世界的事，就都嚇得魂不附體。

我必興起迦勒底人，就是那殘忍暴躁之民，通行遍地，佔據那不屬自己的住處。他威武可畏，判斷和勢力都任意發出。他的馬比豹更快，比晚上的豺狼更猛。馬兵踴躍爭先，都從遠方而來；他們飛跑如鷹抓食，都為行強暴而來，定住臉面向前，將擄掠的人聚集，多如塵沙。他們譏誚君王，笑話首領，嗤笑一切保障，築壘攻取。

他們的箭袋是敞開的墳墓；他們都是勇士。

我必將埃及人交在殘忍主的手中；強暴王必轄制他們。這是主－萬軍之耶和華說的。

你所親愛的都忘記你，不來探問你。我因你的罪孽甚大，罪惡眾多，曾用仇敵加的傷害傷害你，用殘忍者的懲治懲治你。
