我傾耳諦聽、人無正直之言、無悔罪之心、而內自訟焉、彼疾行其道、若馬之臨陳馳驅。

我傾耳細聽、聞彼出言不正、無人悔其惡行曰、我所為何哉、彼各仍奔其道、若馬之臨陣馳驟、

I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. None of them repent of their wickedness, saying,“ What have I done?” Each pursues their own course like a horse charging into battle.

I have listened carefully. But they do not say what is right. They refuse to turn away from their sins. None of them says,‘ What have I done?’ Each of them goes their own way. They are like horses charging into battle.

I have paid attention and listened, but they have not spoken rightly; no man relents of his evil, saying,‘ What have I done?’ Everyone turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.

I listen to their conversations and don’t hear a word of truth. Is anyone sorry for doing wrong? Does anyone say,“ What a terrible thing I have done”? No! All are running down the path of sin as swiftly as a horse galloping into battle!

I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying,“ What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

The LORD looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God.

I searched for a man among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land so that I might not destroy it, but I found no one.

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

He will certainly live because he thought it over and turned from all the transgressions he had committed; he will not die.

Faithful people have vanished from the land; there is no one upright among the people. All of them wait in ambush to shed blood; they hunt each other with a net.

At that time those who feared the LORD spoke to one another. The LORD took notice and listened. So a book of remembrance was written before him for those who feared the LORD and had high regard for his name.

Do you give strength to the horse? Do you adorn his neck with a mane?Do you make him leap like a locust? His proud snorting fills one with terror.He paws in the valley and rejoices in his strength; he charges into battle.He laughs at fear, since he is afraid of nothing; he does not run from the sword.A quiver rattles at his side, along with a flashing spear and a javelin.He charges ahead with trembling rage; he cannot stand still at the sound of the ram’s horn.When the ram’s horn blasts, he snorts defiantly. He smells the battle from a distance; he hears the officers’ shouts and the battle cry.

When he came to his senses, he said,‘ How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough food, and here I am dying of hunger!I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him,“ Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired workers.”’

I will say to God,“ Do not declare me guilty! Let me know why you prosecute me.

Roam through the streets of Jerusalem. Investigate; search in her squares. If you find one person, any who acts justly, who pursues faithfulness, then I will forgive her.

He will look at men and say,“ I have sinned and perverted what was right; yet I did not get what I deserved.He redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit, and I will continue to see the light.”

Now, the LORD of Armies says this:“ Think carefully about your ways:

a wild donkey at home in the wilderness. She sniffs the wind in the heat of her desire. Who can control her passion? All who look for her will not become weary; they will find her in her mating season.Keep your feet from going bare and your throat from thirst. But you say,“ It’s hopeless; I love strangers, and I will continue to follow them.”

The rest of the people, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands to stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see, hear, or walk.

He saw that there was no man— he was amazed that there was no one interceding; so his own arm brought salvation, and his own righteousness supported him.

Therefore the LORD is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the LORD is a just God. All who wait patiently for him are happy.
