In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.

He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

He existed in the beginning with God.

“ I am the Alpha and the Omega— the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God.“ I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come— the Almighty One.”

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

“ The Lord formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else.I was appointed in ages past, at the very first, before the earth began.I was born before the oceans were created, before the springs bubbled forth their waters.Before the mountains were formed, before the hills, I was born—before he had made the earth and fields and the first handfuls of soil.I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew the horizon on the oceans.I was there when he set the clouds above, when he established springs deep in the earth.I was there when he set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when he marked off the earth’s foundations,I was the architect at his side. I was his constant delight, rejoicing always in his presence.And how happy I was with the world he created; how I rejoiced with the human family!

The Father and I are one.”Once again the people picked up stones to kill him.Jesus said,“ At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?”They replied,“ We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.”

And he also said,“ It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega— the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.

“ Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means‘ God is with us.’”

Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.

But to the Son he says,“ Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”He also says to the Son,“ In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands.They will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing.You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will live forever.”And God never said to any of the angels,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel( which means‘ God is with us’).

Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father.”

while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.

“ Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen— the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation:

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said,“ Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last.

“ My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

So we have these three witnesses—

There is no record of his father or mother or any of his ancestors— no beginning or end to his life. He remains a priest forever, resembling the Son of God.

who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning.

“ Write this letter to the angel of the church in Smyrna. This is the message from the one who is the First and the Last, who was dead but is now alive:

O Zion, messenger of good news, shout from the mountaintops! Shout it louder, O Jerusalem. Shout, and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Judah,“ Your God is coming!”Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.

This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.

Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.

It said,“ Write in a book everything you see, and send it to the seven churches in the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
