那時祭司長和民間的長老聚集在稱為該亞法的大祭司院子裏，

先帶到亞那面前；因為亞那是那年做大祭司的該亞法的岳父，該亞法是那位給猶太人出過主意說：『一個人替人民死、是對人民有益的。』

這話他不是憑着自己說的，是因為那年他做大祭司，所以豫言耶穌將要替民族死；

你見過自以為有智慧的人麼？愚頑人比這種人還有可希望處。

亞那和該亞法做大祭司——那時上帝的話傳與撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在野地裏。

誰都別自欺了！你們中間若有人自以為在今世有智慧，他就應當變為愚拙，好成為有智慧。因為這世界的智慧、在上帝看就是愚拙。如經上記着說：『上帝用智慧人自己的狡猾、去抓住他們』；

大祭司亞拿、和該亞法、約拿單、亞力山大、以及所有屬於大祭司家族的人、都在座。

其實在成熟的人中間、我們倒也講智慧。可不是今世的智慧，又不是今世那些漸被消滅的執政者的智慧；

難道議員們或法利賽人中也有信他的？至於這不懂律法的羣眾呢，他們只是被咒詛的罷了。』

有禍啊，那些稱壞為好，稱好為壞的，那些以暗為光，以光為暗的，以苦為甜，以甜為苦的人！有禍啊，那些眼光自看為有智慧，見解自以為高明的人！有禍啊，那些勇於喝酒，豪於調和濃酒的人！那些因受賄賂而以有罪的人為無罪，而將無罪的人之無罪奪去的！

智慧人在哪裏？經學士在哪裏？今世的辯士在哪裏？上帝豈不是叫世界上的智慧變成了愚拙麼？
