Yet many of the people believed in him. They said,“ When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?”

If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me;

This man came to Jesus by night and said to him,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”

And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying,“ Never was anything like this seen in Israel.”

how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him,so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:“ Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said,“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”

As he was drawing near— already on the way down the Mount of Olives— the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,saying,“ Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”He answered,“ I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

And whoever sees me sees him who sent me.

I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.“ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.“ The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

And he said to them,“ What things?” And they said to him,“ Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.

So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the Council and said,“ What are we to do? For this man performs many signs.If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them,“ You know nothing at all.Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.”

Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.“ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”

Those who hate the Lord would cringe toward him, and their fate would last forever.

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

“ Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know—

but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.”

You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying,“ We never saw anything like this!”

So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well,
