人正說平安穩定的時候，災禍忽然臨到他們，如同陣痛臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕逃脫不了。

他們必驚恐，悲痛和愁苦將他們抓住。他們陣痛，好像臨產的婦人一樣，彼此驚奇對看，臉如火焰。

又對女人說：「我必多多加增你懷胎的痛苦，你生兒女時必多受痛苦。你必戀慕你丈夫，他必管轄你。」

因為經上記着：「不懷孕、不生養的，你要歡樂；未曾經過產難的，你要高聲歡呼；因為沒有丈夫的，比有丈夫的有更多的兒女。」

他使不孕的婦女安居家中，成為快樂的母親，兒女成羣。哈利路亞！

產婦的疼痛必臨到他身上；他是無智慧之子，如同臨盆時未出現的胎兒。我必救贖他們脫離陰間，救贖他們脫離死亡。死亡啊，你的災害在哪裏？陰間哪，你的毀滅在哪裏？憐憫必從我眼前消逝。

撒拉說：「神使我歡笑，凡聽見的人必與我一同歡笑」，又說：「誰能預先對亞伯拉罕說，撒拉要乳養孩子呢？因為在他年老的時候，我為他生了一個兒子。」

拉結懷孕生子，說：「神除去了我的羞恥。」拉結就給他起名叫約瑟，說：「願耶和華再增添一個兒子給我。」

耶和華啊，他們在急難中尋求你。你的管教臨到他們身上時，他們傾吐低聲的禱告。婦人懷孕，臨產疼痛，在痛苦之中喊叫；耶和華啊，我們在你面前也是如此。我們曾懷孕，曾疼痛，所生產的竟像風一樣，並未帶給地上任何拯救；世上也未曾有居民生下來。

錫安哪，你要疼痛生產，彷彿臨產的婦人；因為你必從城裏出來，住在田野；你要到巴比倫去，在那裏，你要蒙解救，在那裏，耶和華必救贖你脫離仇敵的手掌。

婦人說：「我主啊，請容許我說，我向你，我的主起誓，從前在你這裏站着祈求耶和華的那婦人就是我。我祈求為要得這孩子，耶和華已將我向他所求的賜給我了。

她懷了孕，在生產的陣痛中疼痛地喊叫。天上又出現了另一個兆頭：有一條大紅龍，有七個頭十個角；七個頭上戴着七個冠冕。牠的尾巴拖拉着天上星辰的三分之一，把它們摔在地上。然後龍站在那將要生產的婦人面前，等她生產後要吞吃她的孩子。婦人生了一個男孩子，就是將來要用鐵杖管轄萬國的；她的孩子被提到神和他寶座那裏去。

伊利莎白的產期到了，生了一個兒子。鄰里親屬聽見主向她大施憐憫，就和她一同歡樂。
