Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

Moses lifted up the snake in the desert. In the same way, the Son of Man must also be lifted up.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

“ Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

The people came to Moses and said,“ We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.The Lord said to Moses,“ Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived. (niv)

So Jesus said,“ When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. (niv)

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.The crowd spoke up,“ We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say,‘ The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this‘ Son of Man’?” (niv)

Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. (niv)

But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?” (niv)

He said to them,“ This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.He told them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, (niv)

Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them,“ We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him;they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.” (niv)

Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. (niv)

He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it.( It was called Nehushtan.) (niv)

This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. (niv)

Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. (niv)

The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; (niv)
