耶稣看出他们的恶意，就说：“假冒为善的人哪，为什么试探我？

也不要试探主，像他们有人试探的，就被蛇所灭。

耶稣却一言不答。门徒进前来，求他说：“这妇人在我们后头喊叫，请打发她走吧。”

你们怨恨那在城门口责备人的，憎恶那说正直话的。

耶稣从那里出来，文士和法利赛人就极力地催逼他，引动他多说话，私下窥听，要拿他的话柄。

犹大是个小狮子；我儿啊，你抓了食便上去。你屈下身去，卧如公狮，蹲如母狮，谁敢惹你？

于是窥探耶稣，打发奸细装作好人，要在他的话上得把柄，好将他交在巡抚的政权之下。奸细就问耶稣说：“夫子，我们晓得你所讲所传都是正道，也不取人的外貌，乃是诚诚实实传神的道。我们纳税给凯撒，可以不可以？”耶稣看出他们的诡诈，就对他们说：

“我差你们去，如同羊进入狼群；所以你们要灵巧像蛇，驯良像鸽子。

那寻索我命的设下网罗；那想要害我的口出恶言，终日思想诡计。但我如聋子不听，像哑巴不开口。我如不听见的人，口中没有回话。

有法利赛人来问他说：“人休妻可以不可以？”意思要试探他。

法利赛人出来盘问耶稣，求他从天上显个神迹给他们看，想要试探他。

内中有一个人是律法师，要试探耶稣，就问他说：

所以通达人见这样的时势必静默不言，因为时势真恶。

过路被事激动，管理不干己的争竞，好像人揪住狗耳。

这些人虽看见我的荣耀和我在埃及与旷野所行的神迹，仍然试探我这十次，不听从我的话，

法利赛人和撒都该人来试探耶稣，请他从天上显个神迹给他们看。

耶稣却不言语。大祭司对他说：“我指着永生神叫你起誓告诉我们，你是神的儿子基督不是？”

当时，忽有人的指头显出，在王宫与灯台相对的粉墙上写字。王看见写字的指头

清早又回到殿里。众百姓都到他那里去，他就坐下，教训他们。

我曾说：“我要谨慎我的言行，免得我舌头犯罪；恶人在我面前的时候，我要用嚼环勒住我的口。”

又有人试探耶稣，向他求从天上来的神迹。

我们该纳不该纳？”耶稣知道他们的假意，就对他们说：“你们为什么试探我？拿一个银钱来给我看！”
