And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. (niv)

Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die.” (niv)

So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived. (niv)

King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz cried out in prayer to heaven about this.And the Lord sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the commanders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”The Lord said,“ If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”Then Abraham spoke up again:“ Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes,what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?”“ If I find forty- five there,” he said,“ I will not destroy it.”Once again he spoke to him,“ What if only forty are found there?” He said,“ For the sake of forty, I will not do it.”Then he said,“ May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?” He answered,“ I will not do it if I find thirty there.”Abraham said,“ Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?” He said,“ For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.”Then he said,“ May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered,“ For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home. (niv)

Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the Lord and he answered them. (niv)

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.” (niv)

At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed:“ Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
