Then the Pharisees replied,“ When you were born, you were already deep in sin. How dare you talk like that to us!” And they threw him out of the synagogue.

To this they replied,“ You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.

They answered him,“ You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cast him out.

“ You were born a total sinner!” they answered.“ Are you trying to teach us?” And they threw him out of the synagogue.

“ You were born entirely in sin,” they replied,“ and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.

They answered him,“ You were born entirely in sins, and yet you are teaching us?” So they put him out.

They answered and said to him,“ You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.

They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

“ You were born entirely in sin,” they replied,“ and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.

They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

They replied,“ You were born completely in sinfulness, and yet you presume to teach us?” So they threw him out.

They answered him,“ You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?” Then they threw him out.

His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. The leaders had already made this decision about Jesus. Anyone who said Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.

Jesus’ disciples asked him,“ Rabbi, who sinned? Was this man born blind because he sinned? Or did his parents sin?”

How can human beings be right with God? How can mere people really be pure?

I know I’ve been a sinner ever since I was born. I’ve been a sinner ever since my mother became pregnant with me.

Listen to the word of the Lord. Listen, you who tremble with fear when he speaks. He says,“ Some of your own people hate you. They turn their backs on you because you are faithful to me. They make fun of you and say,‘ Let the Lord show his glory by saving you. Then we can see how happy you are.’ But they will be put to shame.

“ Get out of our way!” the men of Sodom replied to Lot.“ You came here as an outsider. Now you want to act like a judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept trying to force Lot to open the door. Then they moved forward to break it down.

What I’m about to tell you is true. Anyone who will not receive God’s kingdom like a little child will never enter it.”

You are doing what your own father does.”“ We have the right to claim to be God’s children,” they objected.“ The only Father we have is God himself.”

They say,‘ Keep away! Don’t come near us! We are too sacred for you!’ Those people are like smoke in my nose. They are like a fire that keeps burning all day.

Jesus heard that the Pharisees had thrown the man out of the synagogue. When Jesus found him, he said,“ Do you believe in the Son of Man?”

“ Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in him?No! But this mob knows nothing about the law. There is a curse on them.”

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (niv)

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. (niv)

Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended. (niv)

Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked,“ What? Are we blind too?” (niv)

“ Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people— robbers, evildoers, adulterers— or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’“ But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said,‘ God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’“ I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (niv)

Whoever remains stiff- necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed— without remedy. (niv)

All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (niv)

Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them. (niv)

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. (niv)

“ We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles (niv)

If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.“ Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (niv)

“ What are mortals, that they could be pure, or those born of woman, that they could be righteous?If God places no trust in his holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt, who drink up evil like water! (niv)

Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No one! (niv)

God will judge those outside.“ Expel the wicked person from among you.” (niv)

so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. (niv)

So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. (niv)

The man said,“ Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought,“ What I did must have become known.” (niv)

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (niv)

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. (niv)

While he was still speaking, the king said to him,“ Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped but said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.” (niv)

One of the experts in the law answered him,“ Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.” (niv)
