While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said,“ Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house,

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news:“ Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home.

這一天、約伯的兒女們正在他們大哥家裏喫飯喝酒；

他的兒子們往往在自己的日子到各人的家，擺設筵席；又打發人去請他們的三個姐妹來、和他們一同喫喝。

『然而是我使你們在各城牙齒乾淨、無物可嚼，使你們在各處糧食缺乏；你們仍不回來歸我』：永恆主發神諭說。『也是我在收割前還有三個月使雨停止不降在你們那裏；我降雨在一個城，不降雨在另一個城；這一塊地有雨，那一塊地無雨，就枯乾了。這樣、兩三個城的人就搖搖晃晃走到一個城去找水喝，也不得滿足；你們仍不回來歸我』：永恆主發神諭說。『我用旱風霉爛擊打你們，使你們的菜園和葡萄園荒廢；你們的無花果樹和橄欖樹都給剪蟲喫了，你們仍不回來歸我』：永恆主發神諭說。『我打發瘟疫在你們中間、像埃及的樣子；我用刀殺戮你們的青年人，同時叫你們的馬匹被劫掠；我使你們兵營中屍首的臭氣撲鼻，你們仍不回來歸我』：永恆主發神諭說。『我傾覆你們中間的城，如同我傾覆了所多瑪蛾摩拉一樣；你們像一根柴從焚燒中搶救出來；你們仍不回來歸我』：永恆主發神諭說。

押沙龍擺設了筵席、如同王的筵席；他吩咐僮僕說：『你們看暗嫩喝酒心裏高興的時候，我對你們說：「擊殺暗嫩」，你們便殺死他，不要懼怕；這不是我吩咐你們的麼？你們只管壯膽奮勇。』

『就是今日我的哀怨還是沉痛呢：我雖哀聲嘆氣，他的手仍重重責罰我。

義人多有禍患；但永恆主援救他脫離這一切；

就使他的子孫增多，還是必被刀殺；他出的後裔必不得喫飽飯。

它經過時必把你抓去、足夠有餘；因為一早晨過一早晨總要經過；無論白天黑夜它總要橫行；要使人明白這消息、簡直是令人不寒而慄的。

眾人都有一樣的遭遇：義人和惡人、好人和壞人、潔淨人和不潔淨的人、獻祭的和沒獻祭的、都一樣：好人怎樣，好犯罪的人也怎樣；起誓的怎麼，怕起誓的也怎樣。

你的兒女若犯罪得罪了他，而他也把他們放給其過犯之掌握中：

跑急訊的跑到碰見跑急訊的，報信息的碰到報信息的，去報告巴比倫王知道；他京城已四面被攻取了；

他把我打到有破口又有破口；如同勇士直闖來攻擊我。

他將我的光榮剝下來，又摘去我頭上的華冠。他四面將我拆毁，我便去世；他將我的指望拔除、同樹一樣。

『哦，願我的苦惱被稱一稱，我的災害也同放於天平。那就比海沙更重了；因此我的話鹵莽急躁。

『故此一切過路人哪，你們觀察來看吧！看所加於我的、有沒有痛苦像我的痛苦，就是永恆主發烈怒時所使我受的苦。
