爾曹為民、無疑也、智慧將與爾偕亡、

爾豈人中之俊乎、爾曹若死、宇宙間豈無哲人哉。

爾為民中俊者、無疑也、爾以為若死、智慧遂同死、或作爾豈民中之俊乎爾曹若死智慧亦死乎

“ You people think you are the only ones who matter! You are sure that wisdom will die with you!

“ No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

“ You people really know everything, don’t you? And when you die, wisdom will die with you!

No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you!

“ Truly then you are the people, And with you wisdom will die!

No doubt but ye are the people, And wisdom shall die with you.

“ Without a doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

“ No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

You have closed their minds to understanding; therefore you will not let them triumph.

I thought,‘ Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.’But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.“ Therefore I say: Listen to me; I too will tell you what I know.I waited while you spoke, I listened to your reasoning; while you were searching for words,I gave you my full attention. But not one of you has proved Job wrong; none of you has answered his arguments.Do not say,‘ We have found wisdom; let God, not a man, refute him.’

“ Teach me, and I will be quiet; show me where I have been wrong.How painful are honest words! But what do your arguments prove?

I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, and my understanding inspires me to reply.

“ Ask the former generation and find out what their ancestors learned,for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow.Will they not instruct you and tell you? Will they not bring forth words from their understanding?

“ But come on, all of you, try again! I will not find a wise man among you.

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?

and disclose to you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom has two sides. Know this: God has even forgotten some of your sin.

“ Would a wise person answer with empty notions or fill their belly with the hot east wind?

We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored!

The rich are wise in their own eyes; one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.

“ Are all these words to go unanswered? Is this talker to be vindicated?

But the witless can no more become wise than a wild donkey’s colt can be born human.
