But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一咽气，就不知去向。

人死了，就化为乌有；人一气绝就不在了。

但人死亡而消滅；他氣絕，竟在何處呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一嚥氣，就不知去向。

人死了，就化為烏有；人一氣絕就不在了。

但人死了就過去；人一氣絕，究竟在哪裏呢？

惟人死而僵、其氣既絕、則安在哉、

人則異是、始則血衰、既而氣絕、歸於無有。

惟人死則滅、人氣絕則安在、

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.

No man is like that. When he dies, he is buried in a grave. He takes his last breath. Then he is gone.

“ But when people die, their strength is gone. They breathe their last, and then where are they?

But a person dies and fades away; he breathes his last— where is he?

But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he?

But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

But man dies and is powerless; he expires– and where is he?

But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?

So a man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens no longer exist, He will not awake nor be woken from his sleep.

“ Remember that my life is a mere breath; My eye will not see goodness again.The eye of him who sees me will no longer look at me; Your eyes will be on me, but I will not exist.When a cloud vanishes, it is gone; In the same way one who goes down to Sheol does not come up.He will not return to his house again, Nor will his place know about him anymore.

‘ Why then did You bring me out of the womb? If only I had died and no eye had seen me!

“ Why did I not die at birth, Come out of the womb and pass away?

Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I will see God,

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit.

But the eyes of the wicked will fail, And there will be no escape for them; And their hope is to breathe their last.”

And immediately she collapsed at his feet and died; and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

If I hope for Sheol as my home, I make my bed in the darkness;If I call to the grave,‘ You are my father’; To the maggot,‘ my mother and my sister’;Where then is my hope? And who looks at my hope?Will it go down with me to Sheol? Shall we together go down into the dust?”

The wicked is thrust down by his own wrongdoing, But the righteous has a refuge when he dies.

Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s arms; and the rich man also died and was buried.And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and* saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms.

When Jacob finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.
