豈不知自亙古、自有人在世以來、作惡者歡呼不長、偽善者喜樂不過俄頃、

“ Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since mankind was placed on the earth,

“ I’m sure you must know how things have always been. They’ve been that way ever since human beings were placed on this earth.

Do you not know this from of old, since man was placed on earth,

“ Don’t you realize that from the beginning of time, ever since people were first placed on the earth,

Don’t you know that ever since antiquity, from the time a human was placed on earth,

Do you know this from ancient times, From the establishment of mankind on earth,

“ Do you not know this of old, Since man was placed on earth,

Knowest thou not this of old time, Since man was placed upon earth,

Don’t you know that ever since antiquity, from the time man was placed on earth,

“ Surely you know that it has been from old, ever since humankind was placed on the earth,

Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,

I thought,‘ Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.’ (niv)

“ Ask the former generation and find out what their ancestors learned,for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow. (niv)

Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them,“ Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. (niv)

God blessed them and said to them,“ Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (niv)

The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind. (niv)

The gray-haired and the aged are on our side, men even older than your father. (niv)
