因為你們自己明明知道，主的日子來到會像賊在夜間突然來到一樣。

你們要知道，一家的主人若知道賊甚麼時候來，就不容賊挖穿房屋。

禍哉，那些在床上圖謀罪孽、籌劃惡事的人！天一亮，他們因手中有能力就去行惡。他們看上田地就佔據，貪圖房屋便奪取；他們欺壓戶主和他的家庭，霸佔人和他的產業。

所以，要記得你所領受和聽見的；要遵守，並要悔改。你若不警醒，我必如賊一樣來到；我幾時來到你那裏，你絕不會知道。

所以，不要與他們同夥。從前你們是暗昧的，但如今在主裏面是光明的，行事為人要像光明的子女－光明所結的果子就是一切的良善、公義、誠實。總要察驗甚麼是主所喜悅的事。那暗昧無益的事，不可參與，倒要把這種事揭發出來。

他在村莊埋伏等候，在隱密處殺害無辜的人，他的眼睛窺探無倚無靠的人。他埋伏在暗地，如獅子蹲在洞中。他埋伏，要俘擄困苦人；他拉網，就把困苦人擄去。他屈身蹲伏，無倚無靠的人就倒在他的暴力之下。
