彼雲、人樂上帝、無所裨益、

彼曰、崇事上帝、亦何所裨。

約百云、天主悅納人、與人無益、或作人順從天主亦何所益

For he says,‘ There is no profit in trying to please God.’

He asks,‘ What good is it to try to please God?’

For he has said,‘ It profits a man nothing that he should take delight in God.’

He has even said,‘ Why waste time trying to please God?’

For he has said,“ A man gains nothing when he becomes God’s friend.”

For he has said,‘ It is of no use to a man When he becomes friends with God.’

For he has said,‘ It profits a man nothing That he should delight in God.’

For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing That he should delight himself with God.

For he has said,“ A man gains nothing when he becomes God’s friend.”

For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

For he says,‘ It does not profit a man when he makes his delight with God.’

Yet you ask him,‘ What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’ (niv)

It is all the same; that is why I say,‘ He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.’When a scourge brings sudden death, he mocks the despair of the innocent. (niv)

“ You have said,‘ It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? (niv)

Even if I washed myself with soap and my hands with cleansing powder,you would plunge me into a slime pit so that even my clothes would detest me. (niv)

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (niv)

Yet they say to God,‘ Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?’But their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stand aloof from the plans of the wicked. (niv)

that the wicked are spared from the day of calamity, that they are delivered from the day of wrath? (niv)

Will they find delight in the Almighty? Will they call on God at all times? (niv)

They said to God,‘ Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?’ (niv)
