“人因多受欺压就哀求，因受能者的辖制便求救，

人因多虐而呼號、緣強者之臂而呼救、

人受困苦則嘆息、遭橫逆則呼號。

有人因多遭虐待而歎息、緣被有勢者欺壓而呼號、

“ People cry out under a load of oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful.

“ People cry out when they are treated badly. They beg to be set free from the power of those who are over them.

“ Because of the multitude of oppressions people cry out; they call for help because of the arm of the mighty.

“ People cry out when they are oppressed. They groan beneath the power of the mighty.

People cry out because of severe oppression; they shout for help because of the power of the mighty.

“ Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.

“ Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry out for help because of the arm of the mighty.

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

People cry out because of severe oppression; they shout for help because of the arm of the mighty.

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make[ the oppressed] to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

“ People cry out because of the excess of oppression; they cry out for help because of the power of the mighty.

“ By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. (niv)

They caused the cry of the poor to come before him, so that he heard the cry of the needy. (niv)

Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? (niv)

Break the arm of the wicked man; call the evildoer to account for his wickedness that would not otherwise be found out. (niv)

“ Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord.“ I will protect them from those who malign them.” (niv)

You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? (niv)

Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack.My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me. (niv)

Now the men and their wives raised a great outcry against their fellow Jews.Some were saying,“ We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain.”Others were saying,“ We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine.”Still others were saying,“ We have had to borrow money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our fellow Jews and though our children are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others.” (niv)

And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea,‘ Grant me justice against my adversary.’“ For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself,‘ Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think,yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”And the Lord said,“ Listen to what the unjust judge says.And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? (niv)

The groans of the dying rise from the city, and the souls of the wounded cry out for help. But God charges no one with wrongdoing. (niv)

He leads priests away stripped and overthrows officials long established. (niv)

hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraughtbecause of what my enemy is saying, because of the threats of the wicked; for they bring down suffering on me and assail me in their anger. (niv)

And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. (niv)

The Lord said,“ I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. (niv)
