牠譏笑城市的喧嘩，趕牲口者的喝聲牠都不聽；

彼輕忽邑中之喧譁、不聽驅者之叱咤、

邑眾之譁不畏、驅者之聲不顧、

輕視邑中之諠譁、不聞驅策者之聲、

It laughs at the commotion in the town; it does not hear a driver’s shout.

They laugh at all the noise in town. They do not hear the shouts of the donkey drivers.

He scorns the tumult of the city; he hears not the shouts of the driver.

It hates the noise of the city and has no driver to shout at it.

It scoffs at the noise of the village and never hears the shouts of a driver.

He laughs at the turmoil of the city, He does not hear the shouting of the taskmaster.

He scorns the tumult of the city; He does not heed the shouts of the driver.

He scorneth the tumult of the city, Neither heareth he the shoutings of the driver.

There the prisoners relax together; they do not hear the voice of the oppressor.

The slave masters were pressuring them, saying,“ Complete your work for each day, just like when there was straw!”The Israelite foremen whom Pharaoh’s slave masters had set over them were beaten and were asked,“ Why did you not complete your requirement for brickmaking as in the past– both yesterday and today?”The Israelite foremen went and cried out to Pharaoh,“ Why are you treating your servants this way?No straw is given to your servants, but we are told,‘ Make bricks!’ Your servants are even being beaten, but the fault is with your people.”

So now, get back to work! You will not be given straw, but you must still produce your quota of bricks!”

They lament,‘ Why don’t you notice when we fast? Why don’t you pay attention when we humble ourselves?’ Look, at the same time you fast, you satisfy your selfish desires, you oppress your workers.
