約伯的三個朋友提幔人以利法、書亞人比勒達和拿瑪人瑣法聽到他的不幸遭遇，便各自從家鄉動身，相約一起來探望、安慰他。

「祂使我的弟兄遠離我，我的熟人完全背棄我。我的親屬離開我，我的摯友忘記我。

駱駝喝過水以後，老總管拿出一隻約六克重的金環和一對約一百一十克重的金鐲給利百加，

我會對你們講鼓勵的話，用勸慰之言減輕你們的痛苦。

我何嘗對你們說過，『請你們供應我，把你們的財產給我一份，從仇敵手中拯救我，從殘暴之徒手中救贖我』？

你的話使人免於跌倒，你使顫抖的膝硬朗。

很多猶太人來看瑪大和瑪麗亞，為她們兄弟的事來安慰她們。

所以，你們要舉起下垂的手，挺直發酸的腿，

他的兒女都來安慰他，他卻不肯接受他們的安慰，說：「我一定會淒淒慘慘地下到陰間，去我兒子那裡。」約瑟的父親為他哀哭。

要設身處地地顧念那些被囚禁的人，要感同身受地顧念那些遭遇苦難的人。

以色列人把從埃及帶出來的約瑟的骸骨葬在示劍，在從前雅各用一百塊銀子向哈抹的子孫買的那塊地裡。哈抹是示劍的父親。後來那塊地成了約瑟子孫的產業。

但有一些市井之徒說：「這人怎能救我們？」就鄙視他，沒有送禮物給他，但掃羅沒有說什麼。

如果身體某個肢體感到痛苦，全身也一同受苦。如果某個肢體得到榮耀，全身也一同喜樂。

要與喜樂的人同樂，與哀哭的人同哭。

人所行的若蒙耶和華喜悅，耶和華必使仇敵與他和好。

然後拿出金銀首飾和衣裳送給利百加，又把貴重的禮物送給她的哥哥和母親。

你們要使軟弱的人強壯，使雙腿無力的人站穩。要對膽怯的人說：「你們要剛強，不要懼怕。看啊，你們的上帝必來拯救你們，為你們復仇，施行報應。」
