Even if I hadn’t sinned, what I said would prove me guilty. Even if I were honest, my words would show that I’m wrong.

‘ Job doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The things he has said don’t make any sense.’

Your sin makes you say evil things. You talk like people who twist the truth.Your own mouth judges you, not mine. Your own lips witness against you.

“ But I heard what you said. And here are the exact words I heard.You said,‘ I’m pure. I have done no wrong. I’m clean. I’m free from sin.But God has found fault with me. He thinks I’m his enemy.He puts my feet in chains. He watches every step I take.’“ But I’m telling you that you aren’t right when you talk like that. After all, God is greater than any human being.Why do you claim that God never answers anybody’s questions?

I have not yet received all these things. I have not yet reached my goal. Christ Jesus took hold of me so that I could reach that goal. So I keep pushing myself forward to reach it.Brothers and sisters, I don’t consider that I have taken hold of it yet. But here is the one thing I do. I forget what is behind me. I push hard toward what is ahead of me.I push myself forward toward the goal to win the prize. God has appointed me to win it. The heavenly prize is Christ Jesus himself.So all of us who are grown up in the faith should see things this way. Maybe you think differently about something. But God will make it clear to you.

Sin is not ended by using many words. But those who are wise control their tongues.

“ How terrible it is for me!” I cried out.“ I’m about to be destroyed! My mouth speaks sinful words. And I live among people who speak sinful words. Now I have seen the King with my own eyes. He is the Lord who rules over all.”

“ I’m sure that what you have said is true. But how can human beings prove to God they are not guilty?

But here is what I tell you. On judgment day, everyone will have to account for every empty word they have spoken.By your words you will be found guilty or not guilty.”

So you say things that don’t mean anything. You use a lot of words, but you don’t know what you are talking about.”

If your heart is twisted, you won’t succeed. If your tongue tells lies, you will get into trouble.

Don’t take me to court and judge me, because in your eyes no living person does what is right.

Jesus said to them,“ You try to make yourselves look good in the eyes of other people. But God knows your hearts. What people think is worth a lot is hated by God.

But the man wanted to make himself look good. So he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

It stirs up trouble all the time among people whose minds are twisted by sin. The truth they once had has been taken away from them. They think they can get rich by being godly.

So the three men stopped answering Job, because he thought he was right.But Elihu the Buzite was very angry with Job. That’s because Job said he himself was right instead of God. Elihu was the son of Barakel. He was from the family of Ram.

All of us get tripped up in many ways. Suppose someone is never wrong in what they say. Then they are perfect. They are able to keep their whole body under control.

There was a man who lived in the land of Uz. His name was Job. He was honest. He did what was right. He had respect for God and avoided evil.

Lord, suppose you kept a close watch on sins. Lord, who then wouldn’t be found guilty?

It said,‘ Can a human being be more right than God? Can even a strong man be more pure than the God who made him?
